Wednesday El Niño update - Sea surface temperature anomalies continue to steadily rise in the key Niño 3.4 monitoring area, which also remain at record high levels for this time of year. Over the last week, there has been a general warming across the central Pacific. Data from NOAA OISSTv2.1. 🌊

The sum for the outside is close to the inside also it is thinner. The mass of the Arctic keeps it stable. We, Canada and others are getting spicks of cold.

Long-term trends in July #Arctic sea ice concentration are more extensive and begin to surround the central Arctic, including areas like the Beaufort, Chukchi, East Siberian, Laptev, Kara, and Barents Seas. Sea ice concentration = fraction of ice-cover. More info: doi.org/10.1175/BAMS...

It had been low for so long. This is part of why the cold north drips down to the south. And a week jet stream ( some of the reasons for heat domes)

Friday ice update - #Arctic sea ice extent is currently tied for the *2nd* lowest on record for the present date. Over the last week, the most rapid declines have been along the Atlantic ice edge as well as in the Hudson Bay. More graphics at zacklabe.com/arctic-sea-i.... A lot happening!

Some of the hot temperature bring change that are not bring fixed by blue ones. (lose thick sea ice , permafrost and even land ice)
