“The core of my work seems to be sadism . . . I have wondered if it was all some sort of revenge for the brutality I suffered away at primary school, but maybe I’m just cruel.” Tim Pope on his riotous videos for the Cure, Bowie, Queen, Soft Cell and more:

‘I put a raging dent in Neil Young’s forehead!’ Tim Pope on his riotous videos for the Cure, Bowie, Queen, Soft Cell and more

He dressed Freddie Mercury as a prawn, got Paul Weller to wear lipstick, locked the Cure in a flooded wardrobe and created a 75ft penis for Hall & Oates. Pope looks back on is wild adventures with titans of music

Notice DOJ doesn't talk about its efforts to obtain state voter files anymore. They are 0-20 in those cases and today is the beginning of the quiet period -- states can no longer do systematic removals of names from the voter rolls. TLDR: We won!🥳

NEW: Police in Wisconsin used Flock to determine that a man “travels to Michigan frequently,” where marijuana is legal, then back to Wisconsin, where it is illegal. They then used his travel across state lines as tracked by Flock as part of the probable cause justification to search his car.

[Today’s poster’s madness includes “Riff on Kendal“ Day] This is why I call Almanac, the Strib editorial page, the old-guard Senior Caucus “The Lagging Indicators” - despite the fact that we can learn from the past, status quo forces will always tumble for a circumscribed nostalgia

Name a Minnesota political pundit and I will tell you which election they lost to move them from being relevant to being a pundit. Why are losers seen as credible? When you lose it means the voters are rejecting your point of view. Yet on the Almanac couch your rejected perspective lives forever.

And how much exactly did the search for a new #Minneapolis #FireChief cost? Why did they need to go after a guy who was working in Saudi Arabia? Did they pay for his flights? Seems the now-assistant Fire Chief & then Interim Fire Chief Melanie Rucker was a very well qualified & deserving candidate.

More than 100 city employees could be laid off in Minneapolis in the first major layoffs in 16 years as the city faces a $33 million budget gap.

I am so very very fortunate that my polling place has always been less than 2 blocks from my house. I've always just walked there. First it was at Dowling School and then they moved it to St Peder's Church. I never underestimate the importance the convenience of that. Its HUGE really. #GOTV #Vote
