Quite tempted to put in a trench across what must be an old ditch line, Time team style. The only green grass around..

A lot of people keen to blame deliberate arson for wildfires forget just how stupid a lot of people are. As if firefighters needed any other work a local moron decided to have a bonfire last night which set his grass alight spreading out of control to his garden fast 🙄 #wildfire
Rubbish pic but fairly sure this is a Six-belted clearwing moth I spotted in our meadow yesterday. Quite rare for #Suffolk apparently. #suffolkwildlife

And that's it for the big groundwater pond for this summer. All gone, just the reedmace & loosestrife left. Luckily for wildlife the stream is still running, but wondering if it's natural or whether the environment agency are ensuring that as they did for 90 days in 2022 before they had to give up.
Nobody believes these are more monitoring wildlife now do they. Maybe deaf wildlife at a push 🙄

England lost the match to Argentina and as usual emergency services saw a massive uptick in domestic violence call outs. No uptick in bear attacks reported...
Well the sheep's wool insulation has arrived and the MVHR guy has been and checked the routes he's designing will work, the answer is 'mostly' and 'hmmm, complicated' 😬
Aw goodbye Sam Neill, Ricky Baker’s dad. The Ricky Baker birthday song was always a favourite with my daughter. youtu.be/oqWhQHImHGE?...

This is the tail of a baby barn owl sitting above my head! 😆 Two of them are beginning to do short practice flights from their box now.
Meadow species count is going up year on year. (No trees or shrubs included in this count). Although have to admit couldn’t reliably include all the different species of grass because we don’t know them well enough!
Good evening from the meadow, lots of meadow brown butterflies settling down for the night amongst the wildflowers.
What *actually* works — right here, right now — to address climate change? Here you go. This is the result of thousands of hours of painstaking research and analysis from the Project Drawdown team.
Look at our baby barn owls! Two boys and two girls in total. Had them ringed today, so proud to have provided the right habitat for them & to see it working so well.
Absolutely sweltering here even at 8pm FFS! We had to go water some of our newest trees (not pictured, these ones should be ok 🤞), otherwise they'll have no chance getting through this heatwave. It was extremely hot work.
Being mystified all over again that it's nigh on impossible to get inward opening windows in the UK or cool wooden shutters to add to the outside that work with them. It makes all the difference abroad on hot days! (And inward opening windows are way easier/safer to clean!) #heatwave
Here's a farmer being interviewed for a story on "Dustbowl 2.0" while he stands in a vast field of dry bare soil in a drought -- the kind of land that blows away in the wind. But there's no sense of irony or any idea that he's contributing to the problem.

Bird folk, is this a reed warbler which seems to be hanging out in our nature project at the moment?
My partner's city garden. We both stopped mowing a couple of years ago, my rural garden turned into nettles, alkanet & brambles, his turned into this bee paradise 🤷🙄
Top tip for MAMILS, if you whizz past someone else cycling on the flat (and in this case carrying their shopping) & don't say hello, but then yell 'THATS CHEATING' as they whizz past you on the uphill on their e-bike you come across as a knob. It's not cheating, it's ENABLING.

Big thanks to the DUP, Reform, Tories etc for stirring this up all day. Thugs are now attacking people's homes in Belfast, wrecking hostels, checking cars at roadblocks for 'immigrants', burning vehicles and generally scaring the shit out of people. Hope you're all proud of yourselves. #Belfast

This is not a movie about meteor showers before the apocalypse; this is Russia bombing Kyiv last night. A city with several million people in it - children, the elderly, and normal families just like yours.
Just heard about the 'Miracle of Wörgl" for the first time, an alternative currency that was so successful in circumventing the wealth hoarders, getting a local economy working, reducing unemployment & public works completed that the Austrian banks got it banned observablehq.com/@martien/mir...

The meadow is blooming, this is the first cornflower to appear and the beautifully iridescent and an aptly named swollen-thighed beetle is enjoying it, alongside plenty more on the scabious. #Suffolk
