San Antonians for Rail Transit (SART) is a group dedicated to promoting efficient, reliable rail transportation for Central and South Texas.

Cities where car ownership is a de facto requirement to participate in economic and civic life are essentially levying a hidden tax on the public. It is so important to build and maintain infrastructure and systems that make it feasible for residents to choose to opt out of these costs.

Frustrated with the slow progress on CAHSR? Apparently the California legislature isn't, given all bills to speed up progress died this year. Why isn't California's signature infrastructure project a priority? calmatters.org/politics/202...

California’s high-speed rail authority made a legislative wishlist. It mostly stalled out

California’s bullet train agency said timely construction of the rail line depended on these reforms. They mostly failed.

Gas prices have risen dramatically this year. For the typical driver, that's $65 more spent on gas monthly. If you're a typical F-150 driver in states like Alabama, Kansas, Mississippi, or Missouri, you're spending >$350 a month on gas now. We've got to give people other options.

Rising Gas Prices Are Punishing Household Finances. Policymakers Should Invest in Transit to Reduce Household Costs.

Amid months of rising gas prices, a typical driver now spends $65 more on fuel each month today than they did a year ago.

The LOSSAN corridor is under threat once again this winter from El Niño. But one word is strikingly absent from this discussion: relocation. Will upcoming extreme weather finally be enough for the state to take action on moving the tracks off the beach?

“The rail line has been there since the 1880s, but in the last five years, there’s been no other time in history where we’ve had this much impact.” El Niño is accelerating the climate threat to SoCal's Pacific Surfliner: www.latimes.com/california/s... via @summerrlin.bsky.social

True fact: the airports in Mobile and Baton Rouge offer flights to the same 5 places: ATL, CLT, DCA, DFW, IAH From neither airport can you fly direct to New Orleans. You’d have to go somewhere else and backtrack. And yet people think “there’s an airport, why need a train?”🚆

Among the things I like most about passenger rail routes is the degree they interact with the unique territory, communities and landscapes they serve (in a way that most airport terminals do not). This is Amtrak’s Mardi Gras in downtown Mobile. The vibe is robust and distinct.

"For Austin-San Antonio rail to become realistic, Texas would need a predictable funding source, a durable project-development pipeline and an institution empowered to carry projects from idea to operation." An opinion from someone who worked on the TxDOT study. www.expressnews.com/opinion/comm...

Rail between San Antonio and Austin needs a dedicated funding source

For rail to become a reality, Texas needs a predictable funding source, a durable project-development pipeline and an institution to carry the project forward.
