The mobility of children is simply not taken seriously or viewed as important. Something illustrative is how people will often say that kids "don't count" when you remind them that children and young teens are nondrivers who deserve the right to get around without cars.

This morning a driver crashed onto the sidewalk exactly where my kids walk past on the way to school. This happened shortly before they came along. I have asked my local @brumgreens.bsky.social councillor to demand that this road be closed to cars until the current road works are complete.

People think winter cycling is tough, when really it's just a workaround for the real tough stuff of endlessly putting on and taking snowsuits off of toddlers and young kids.
putting them in a snowsuit to walk outside and then take off the snowsuit in the car for the car seat was a tragedy we lived for far too long. 🙃🙃

The baby is back seat facing away. You can barely see or interact with them, can’t offer food or toys or fix any issues. Sleeping? Crying?
