Hearty green lentils famous as a side dish, in stews, soups, and even salads. West Coast-grown for our own unique terroir. These lentils are very similar to lentilles du Puy, which must be grown in France. We think our West Coast terroir adds to the flavor. www.ranchogordo.com/products/fre...

Made a cabbage minestrone tonight. Yah gotta love a recipe that has you cook sliced onions in a vat of olive oil and butter! Delish. Used some Zipper Cream Field Peas from @ranchogordo.bsky.social. Soaked for about 6 hours and then tossed them in for about 2 hours of cooking with the soup. Yum!
I hate that Vela cheese in Sonoma went out of business, but I love the fact that I have such good friends who waited in lines to make sure I got some of the last hurrah.

Hey @mapquest.com , don’t forget to update your Rancho Gordo listing. We’ve moved! 1350 Main St. in beautiful downtown Napa. Thank you and good luck in this new era.
We are always encouraging you to cook a pot of beans and see where it leads you. Here's a salad that Steve created after cooking a pot of Moro beans and finding some odds and ends in his refrigerator. Link to recipes www.ranchogordo.com/blogs/recipe...
I cannot believe that I am downloading MapQuest. I remember printing directions before a trip with their very bad logo and lots of extra things on the paper. Life. Go figure.
The one very bright spot in today is my heirloom beans from Rancho Gordo arrived!!
My house is being invaded by talented and attractive film men. Again. I’ll be in hair and makeup if you need me.
tuesday is categorically the worst day of the week, but i do have a giant pot of @ranchogordo.bsky.social pinto beans so that is helping a lot
The presence of California Coronas in the latest @ranchogordo.bsky.social bean club package demanded that we make one of our favorite bean dishes for dinner this week: we call it "burrata beans" and it is 8oz of beans, cooked normally, then stewed on the stovetop with marinara sauce!
@ranchogordo.bsky.social I just made this Polenta w/Cranberry Beans recipe with the beans from my club box. It was absolutely delicious! First time making polenta too! Those beans tasted amazing even just out of the boiling process w/a unique flavor. www.ranchogordo.com/blogs/recipe...

Moro Beans have beautiful markings and a dense, rich flavor make this super rare bean a favorite. Almost a marriage between a black bean and a pinto but unique in its own right. www.ranchogordo.com/products/mor...

Very cool.
Bean update for 2026 #1 We planted 14 types, 10 of which have produced so far in Spokane (Eastern WA). All but one are from @ranchogordo.bsky.social Some are from bean trials and some are from the previous year’s crops. The slugs ate almost all of our Jacob’s Cattle plants and Calypso plants.

This is an interesting piece on the Bean Club fanatics and it captures a time during COVID that we tend to forget, but the best moments are with our friends at Xoxoc. We've been making history together since 2008! youtu.be/Lf261fcJbDk?...

On behalf of every American I know, I want to say, Canada, I am so sorry. We owe apologoes to much of the world but today I am in pain for the way we've treated our friend and neighbor.
Classic white Navy beans are one of our commonly requested items. Our Alubia Blancas are similar in appearance, but far superior (we think) in flavor and texture. You can use them in all kinds of cooking, from Mexican to Tuscan to even classic Yankee baked beans. www.ranchogordo.com/products/alu...

Steve was the guest chef at Homeward Bound of Marin's Fresh Starts Chef Event this month and it was a wonderful night with great food, staff, and guests. A special thanks to Chef Matt Shapiro. He made our recipes from The Bean Book and it was legendary! Photos by Neely Wang
A quick weeknight meal might include broccolini, Merguez sausage from Fatted Calf (@fattedcalf), and Ayocote Morado beans. You can accidentally not drain the fat from the Merguez and toss the greens and beans and no one will complain.
