This paper quantifies the danger of older drivers. The higher the percentage of 70+ drivers, the higher the traffic fatality rate. Also, enforcement works. The higher the percentage of people with speeding tickets, the lower the fatality rate. (Controlled for vehicle speed.)

Meta has made it repeatedly clear that one of their growth strategies is sexualizing kids. Mark Zuckerberg and his leadership team deserve to face personal liability for this, and the company deserves sanctions up to and including corporate dissolution

WIRED@wired.com · 6h ago

Over the last nine months, Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta has run dozens of paid ads that include explicit AI-generated child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and images of minors alongside sexually suggestive statements, according to details of the ads shared with WIRED.

If you show up to Bluesky without following anyone, you'll be treated to a series of posts about art, music, and dogs. If you show up to X without following anyone, you'll be bombarded with right-wing conspiracies and white supremacist slop. It's weird which one is seen as a "political bubble"

Here’s the key takeaway from our report: Epstein couldn’t have carried out his trafficking and criminal activity without the help of the highest ranking employees and executives at the most powerful banks in the world. Wall Street is complicit in Epstein’s crimes from top to bottom.

This is a big issue for seniors. Between hearing and peripheral vision loss, each bike that comes up behind them is a jump scare, and when your proprioception is also shot, that means each bike is a fall danger. This is one of the things I loved about Pontevedra, prioritizes walking…

The bikes are particularly aggravating if you're walking dogs. Leashes extending across the sidewalk aren't always visible to someone zooming along at ebike speeds. And the bikes are very quiet, so even if you're paying attention to your surroundings, they can be on top of you before you realize.

There are some great pollinator gardens on my quick n’hood walk. Love to watch these big chonky pollinators in action… and I probs look weird takin’ closeup piccies from the sidewalk, but who cares!?!Look at this gorgeousness.

That's what taxes are, man. That's the definition of taxes. "You are subsidizing things you might never use" man shut the fuck up. My taxes currently subsidize like oil company exec private jets, you think I'm upset at low-income people eating inexpensive bananas?

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

Colorado River. Humans are the most selfish, ignorant & destructive species on earth. If you have children/grandchildren, you might want to get engaged & be proactive in working with your government officials to save what is left of our natural resources. They will thank you ~

Apple got a $2.2 billion tariff refund. Amazon got $600 million. Trump is sending the "refunds" to the companies, not working people. Every single cent of these refunds should go back to American consumers.

We can't solve a housing crisis without building more housing. Today we broke ground on the Casanova Residence, which will soon be nearly 100 affordable and supportive homes with on-site services for New Yorkers. Every new home is a step toward a City that everyone can afford.
