Could a film like REDS get made today? Expensive, on location, all-star cast, story focused on the true struggles of two writers who tried to make Communism viable for America? I rewatched this week, and it remains a powerful and stunning piece of cinematic storytelling, but I kept thinking...
After 40 working years in comics, I don't know why I am surprised when I encounter creators of mediocre talent that seem aggressively determined to have arrogance and self-absorbed entitlement be their entire professional demeanor. Most folks in comics? Lovely. But, still...

There's a part in the book "Careless People" where the author beats Zuck at Settlers of Catan, and he is absolutely wrecked by it. Someone pulls her aside to explain everyone else has been letting him win for years. I think about this a lot re: why tech bros think everyone will love AI chatbots.
