School supplies should be free. They should come with the school. They should be purchased by the state.

kids should know how to type, yes. but i am telling you as a teacher, this is BROADLY not the reason kids are using ChatGPT. They use it for the same reason adults do: because it's a shortcut and they don't see the value of the work they are being asked to do or the skill underlying it.

Not to sound snobby or whatever but this teacher institute has been WONDERFUL. It is invigorating to have rigorous academic discussion with intelligent people about important things. Most teacher PD I go to feels more like cult recruitment/retainment and this has been so great
