One of the things about discourse around The Odyssey is that only a couple of movies a year manage to get into 'the discourse' now, so everyone has to have an opinion on them In the old days there would be a Peter Greenaway film out by now to distract everyone & give them something new to talk about

There is a substantial chunk of the electorate that thinks of themselves as Republicans, that still tends to vote Republican, but wants Republicans to win fair and square. They like GOP policies, but they also like democracy. (And yes, that's a contradiction. Voters are vast.)
The decisive failure of GOP referenda in Kansas Amendment 1 and Missouri Amendment 4 yesterday is yet another reminder of something I've been saying for a while: Voters, even Republican voters, now regularly despise and repudiate GOP attempts to use them to destroy democracy.
One thing I really hate is when I notice a similarity between short phrases in two songs I know well but don't enjoy, and then get a looping overlapping medley of the two stuck in my head forever.

this will probably mildly baffle a few customers but tbh it makes more sense anyway and might even help out a few of the older fellas who need the cubicles more often
it pisses me off SO much that as someone who runs a pub I'm meant to enforce this transphobic, sexist garbage. fuck off. the only solution, since we don't have a disabled toilet, is that the toilets are ALL gender neutral and I'll get new signs saying one has cubicles other has urinals

I’m telling you this as a political scientist. The person who is electable is the one who is elected. This can and does change over time. Any and all speculation about “electability” is either puffery or anxiety and is often both.

Revolver turns sixty today. Been my favourite Beatles album for about forty of those years (and how gratified I was in the 90s to see it overtake Pepper as the critical favourite too). There is no "best album ever" but if there was, it'd be hard to make a case against this being it.
