This is a great piece. I have a draft paper (under review currently) on AI and the problem of suspicion at universities. The problem with AI is not cheating or "academic integrity", it's that we are placed in a context where we can no longer trust one another.

I would also say that philosophy conference blokes often misinterpret Q&A takedowns and/or "it's more of a comment than a question" as hardcore flirting, so I try my best to be as nice as possible to all of you

Apologies to any offended party but, as a philosopher, I cannot think of anything worse than dating another philosopher.

Journals seem to be crunchingly slow at the moment, and this may be one reason why. This is obviously a much more serious problem for those colleagues who are trying to prepare for our wonderful job market and all of its joys.

The problem of AI-written or AI-corrupted submissions seems to be getting worse. What's the solution?

I've got some news: whether or not football is coming back to England, I will be returning after 20 years in Scotland. I've been offered a two-year lectureship at Bristol, starting in September, and have accepted. Currently terrified by moving/logistics, but excited to start a new chapter.
