Ironically for me, what got me into what could be described as 'post rock' was the byways and hinterlands from post punk, art rock, ambient, industrial, and to an extent metal. All the esoteric jazz and contemporary classical elements came by proxy. But as the OP indicates: there is no wrong entry.

Sometimes that’s defined generationally. Other times it’s stamped by sturm und drang versus a jazz influence. None of it’s “wrong” necessarily definition-wise.

Caught a 70mm screening of this yesterday with my otherhalf and @sotoalfred.bsky.social more or less articulates my post viewing thoughts. Typical Nolan scope and technical accomplishment (with some impressive sequences), but as my partner gripped: too restrained in it's commitment to realism.

Unfortunately far too many parents do see high-school sports as gladiatorial domination and a kind of showcase to prove their genetic superiority by proxy via their own children. I highly doubt values like comradery are priorities. If their groomed ubermensch offspring succeed, then so do they.

I can think of no better way to accomplish those goals than to compete alongside our trans brothers, sisters, and siblings.
Do people who've never lived in Washington have a sense of how titanic a labor it is to get the Mall this empty, especially near the Fourth of July? Normally the monuments and Smithsonian would look _carpeted_ with tourists right now. Even 'Gigli' didn't chase people off like this.
