Somebody asked me on Reddit why people who use AI to generate Recomp projects are currently being rejected from the communities and what they can do to fix this. I might tweak parts of this to be a more general blog post at some point, but this should be of help to anyone in a similar situation.

It's too bad this game is a snooze fest because the environments are legitimately a huge vibe
environments in metroid prime hunters kind of rule
I want to correct myself, the author does manually write some code: replacing the em dashes with double dashes. github.com/bryanthaboi/...
Please give this a read, vibe coded trash is a very real problem in the fan-port/recomp scene and it's not just pushing non-functional garbage into unsuspecting users and thus hurting the scene's image but also heavily discouraging developers who work on real fan-projects that actually work.
Kotaku parading that garbage "recompilation" Generation 1 Pokémon project is genuinely upsetting. I was hoping the communities would reject vibe coded garbage, but these people are now intentionally hiding the usage and even lying that it's hand-written to peddle their slop onto others.
There's sadly no other way to get grifters out of the scene other than completely rejecting this and not giving them a space at all. Not mentioning their blatant and incorrect usage of AI is just their latest tactic to try to break through. Outright irresponsible people shouldn't be celebrated.
It's not a recompilation at all. The author clearly asked an LLM to translate the decompilation of the game to Lua. The codebase is filled with evidence of this. It's a non-deterministic process that led to hundreds of game-breaking issues, either graphical or gameplay inaccuracies.

20+ years of buying and enjoying your games, but with no physical media you bring nothing Steam hasn't done better for years. You lose me and millions more. You're doing unilaterally irreparable damage to the industry. And we won't forget this no matter how much you want us to.
But market trends indicate that players prefer regular controllers, so why bother with fight sticks?

i just realized sony being like “80% of our sales are digital” is such bs cause that includes digital only games LMAOOO if you really wanna compare physical and digital you would only compare the games that released in both forms

Steam Next Fest's top played games include only 1 of over 500 demos with an AI disclosure
Anime, friendslop and relaxed offroading are the highlights, but seriously Valve: give us an AI filter.

This. Anytime someone says this I think… you’ve never worked with a good concept artist.
I’ve never understood the “no no don’t worry guys, we’re just using gen AI for concepts not final product” angle some execs are trying to take. Like concepts aren’t the time you want interesting fresh ideas, not amalgamations of existing stuff churned together
I've said it before and I'll say it again: if you like and support genAI and you claim to like computers/gaming/consoles etc you're just a dumbass.

Last year, miHoYo copied my puzzle game Ouros in Zenless Zone Zero. Because they are a recognized, billion-dollar studio and my game isn't well known, some people are now assuming that their version is the original, and mine is the clone. I hope this video clears that up.
