I was honored to host our annual back-to-school giveaway today with Rep. Delisha Boyd. With school starting soon, we were excited to give out free school supplies to the children in our communities so they have the tools they need to thrive academically and start the school year off right.

It was great visiting Studio BE this morning to speak with the Eternal Seeds Summer Session youth program! This year, students explored themes connected to 250 years of America, the future of this country, and the role young people can play in shaping their future.

Today, I salute the life and legacy of a New Orleans icon and my dear friend, Lester V. Johnson. As the owner of the Bottom Line in New Orleans, he was a pioneering African American businessman, and his restaurant brought the city the best in Cajun & Creole cuisine.
