Indicators of Global Climate Change 2025: annual update of key indicators of the state of the climate system and human influence
Abstract. In a rapidly changing climate, evidence-based decision-making benefits from up-to-date and timely information. We track twelve key sets of indicators of the state of the climate system, clos...

This new study finds that the total death toll in Europe during the June heatwave exceeds 20,000 people. "This result highlights the accelerating threat of mass heat mortality events in Europe despite previous adaptations to heat." Pre-print here: zenodo.org/records/2108...
Faszinierend.
I think we're past global warming and into the global frying stage.
“The global average TikTok user watches over 100,000 videos annually, and the average American spends 50 hours a week on screens, 16 of those on social media platforms. An American born in 2025 is projected to spend 21 years of their lifetime looking at screens.” Grim stats. This needs to change.

Andy Burnham cabinet consists of neoliberal foot-soldiers. All supported Privatisation of the NHS by stealth Greater role for private equity PFI Corporate profiteering Benefit cuts Higher taxes on the poor Erosion of jury trials Damaging fiscal rules What will change?
Andy Burnham can’t transform the country while sticking to the current fiscal rules
Sticking to the 2024 election manifesto and fiscal rules will make it harder for him to deliver the headline promises and the change that he has paraded.

Maybe the way to 'get around this' is to actually write something.
Nope. No, you haven’t.
We decided to get out. Not sure whether we would have still made it tomorrow. The main road Lacanau-Bordeaux is already closed. #GlobalHeating #Wildfire
Limiting warming to 1.5°C was initially motivated by efforts to protect small island nation states from disastrous sea level rise. It's clear we have greatly underestimated loss and damage to the world's richest nations. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/j...

I was just there, on a day trip after the SASE conference in Bordeaux. Where thousands of academics had gathered (in unbearably hot university buildings). Many (most?) had travelled there by plane. Still thinking that if we keep doing conferences at all, we need much stricter air travel rules.

Missed days of work or school because of asthma dropped by about 80%. At the same time, indoor levels of nitrogen dioxide decreased by 70%" ⚕️

New climate models are good and show that, the planet continues warming at the current pace, a snow drought as severe and widespread as last winter’s could occur every third year by 2050, and nine out of 10 years by the end of the century in the western U.S. insideclimatenews.org/news/2207202...
