I’ll be at #IC2S2 this week! I will be presenting two papers from my lab, led by my amazing students @laylab.bsky.social & @elhamagk.bsky.social. If you’re interested in narratives, mental health, stigma, or NLP, let’s connect! Looking forward to catching up with old friends, and meeting new people.

Can we please stop pretending AI can replace peer review? If I wanted my paper reviewed by a model, I could have done it already. I want my community to read it and provide feedback. That's the whole point of peer review. Science depends on expert scrutiny and accountability—not automated judgment.
I did not submit anything to #EMNLP2026, which is probably part of why I missed this when it was first posted in May, but I want to say now that I am utterly appalled that @aclmeeting.bsky.social & @emnlpmeeting.bsky.social are engaging in this nonsense. 2026.emnlp.org/ai-reviewing... A thread 🧵>>

We addressed *15* points of a reviewer, only to be told: “Thank you for the clarification. I found the explanations somewhat lengthy and difficult to follow” That is not feedback. That is a refusal to engage and do your work. Exhausting, disappointing, deeply frustrating. #ARR #ACL #EMNLP2026 #NLProc
The paper acceptance notifications will be out by the 6th of April, AoE. The PCs are working hard throughout the holiday season to finalize the decisions. Apologies for the delay!

new paper is up! we look at drug-related hashtags on tiktok to see how they are used and their content. what we find? no, #tiktok users are NOT using the platform to promote harmful behavior but rather to provide support for those in #recovery, advocate for #harmreduction arxiv.org/abs/2501.16123

Despite media representations to the contrary, "women remain underrepresented among faculty in nearly all academic fields...A large-scale survey of the same faculty indicates that the reasons faculty leave are gendered, even for institutions, fields, and career ages in which retention rates are not"
Women leave academia at higher rates than men at every career stage, and attrition is especially high among three groups: tenured faculty, women in non-STEM fields, and women employed at less prestigious institutions, a #ScienceAdvances analysis finds.
Inspired by @wimlds.bsky.social , I looked for a "Women in Machine Learning" starter pack and couldn't find one. So I created one! May have some mistakes. I'll try to do an AI ethics one next. 🤗 go.bsky.app/LT6CwNN
I created two starter packs for Women in AI, as the first filled up 😎 I really hope I’ve added everyone who’s asked to be added, but let me know if you don’t see yourself. Nominations also welcome! go.bsky.app/LaGDpqg go.bsky.app/2wr669L
