Octopus Tracker was a great tariff for the first year we were on it, but hasn't been so great for the last 4/5 months. Moved off the gas tracker this week. Will probably switch away from the electricity tracker by the end of this month too unless things improve. cc @jim.londoncentric.media

The other Post Office scandal: how organised crime launders money on the high street
The long read: Hundreds of millions of pounds of dirty money are being deposited at post offices every year. So why are the police reluctant to investigate the scale of the problem?

@jim.londoncentric.media inspired by London Centric's article on working in August, the Economist this week has a feature called "The Great British Bunk Off"

Really interesting thread on UK tax levels / spending / growth interactions
UK tax is going to be the highest since 1945. But public spending won't increase; in fact most of us will experience a decline in public services. Here's why - in a thread that I'd love to be completely wrong.
@chimpman.bsky.social @rhymerrigby.bsky.social have you been Kiki & Muimui supermarket underneath the flats by Lewisham station. It's been open for ages, but it was my first time in today. The freezer section is a treasure trove!
This is excellent reporting 👇

The killing of Alex Pretti is a heartbreaking tragedy. It should also be a wake-up call to every American, regardless of party, that many of our core values as a nation are increasingly under assault.
Honestly all Denmark needs to do is to withdraw all Ozempic exports to the US and Americans will finally revolt
@ianvisits.co.uk @murkydepths.bsky.social the park on top of the Thames super sewer access shaft on Crossfield St in Deptford is finally open after months of being fenced off. I didn't have my phone with me as I was running so no photo. Looks good, hopefully the planting will be maintained.
An interesting reflection on the #WilliamsF1 wind tunnel 1 before it is taken it down. I remember the structure well from when it was in Didcot. (cc @chimpman.bsky.social) youtu.be/_H5t00l6FyY?...

I can't believe Farage's political opponents aren't attacking him more strongly generally, but specifically on this.

The European Union has triggered Article 122 to indefinitely immobilise the assets of the Russian Central Bank, worth a whopping €210 billion. I explain what just happened and why this is such a big deal for Europeans. 🧵 Long thread.

I've visited the Toni and Guy ward at Kings Hospital this morning. Yes, it is named after the hairdressers.
@bobbyllew.bsky.social might be of interest for ABM as you did an episode about ZipCar a few years ago.
Zipcar is shutting down its UK operations, basically the only car club that worked in London. Massive kick to anyone who tries to live in capital without owning a car. Having been a customer for 17 years and used Zipvans to move house repeatedly, this is.... very bad! (Zipcar is owned by Avis)

@chimpman.bsky.social @rhymerrigby.bsky.social we've already had an estate agent letter through the door effectively saying "now could be a great time to get a valuation to see if you'll be affected by the new mansion tax"

Here is Trump's full 28 point plan for Ukraine. It would destroy Ukraine as a sovereign state and leave it helpless to face a Russian attack in the future. It would also give Putin full vindication and immunity from prosecution. www.axios.com/2025/11/20/t...
@chimpman.bsky.social Just peered into the new coffee place under the railway bridge. There were already coffee pots on the counter. Could be opening soon? Or have they been gathering dust there for a while?
This is so cool, and in a country as small as Aotearoa New Zealand, electric airplanes make SO much sense. Yes, I would infinitely prefer trains, and particularly electric trains (PLEASE!) but in lieu of such, replacing our domestic ICE airplanes is a no-brainer: evsandbeyond.co.nz/air-nzs-firs...
