Exile from the Other Place and hopeful for civilised debate.

This is really curiosity not political point scoring but did the “gift” of £5m go into Farage a/c at Coutts? Was never mentioned during his attack and buy-off by RBS after a/c . Pretty sure if huge sum arrived in my bank a report of unusual payment would be made.

Very obliging of #r4today to lead with Reform’s ‘plan’ to stop the boats using the Royal Navy, pretending it’ll be some great WWII-style escapade, rather than a hateful, costly, diplomatically incontinent mess. A total waste of everyone’s time as they’ll never be in power and it’s unworkable anyway.

Anyone else enraged that when the Orange Felon piously says he wants a deal with Iran to “save lives” no one asks him why he wasn’t so concerned when agreeing to support the lunatic Israeli plan in the first place?

Some really interesting explorations of family loyalties in #TheArchers at the moment. Horrobins/ Carters, Jolene and Kenton vs Fallon, Carter/Grundy/Gordon, and the Aldridge/Grundy situation still unresolved. Perhaps we’ll hear why Lizzard appoints outside her family at LoLo? Hybrid vigour?

Like his artistic hero, Paul Cezanne, Henri Matisse merged the traditional and the avant-garde. 'In Still Life with Geranium,' (1906) he transformed a still life into an Arcadian landscape characteristic of the Fauves of which he was recognised as the leader.

He says he "gets nothing" from this settlement. IRS is barred from auditing him and his family, worth $100 million. The convicted Jan 6 rioters were already pardoned, so why does he need a taxpayer bill to pay them, while the Capitol Police, five of whom died, get nothing?

How the Reflecting Pool Vandalism Case Fell Apart - The Atlantic It fell apart because it was entirely fictitious. Trump’s ability to terrorise others with law fare is clearly beginning to fall at the hurdle of the truth emerging!!

Can't be the first to say this, but (and yay UEFA - brilliant) this works equally well if you swap out "football" for maybe "water" or "a stable climate". Look at me being the revolutionary socialist. "No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation."

The moment external investors acquire ownership interests in
FIFA competitions, football changes forever. Commercial return becomes a permanent obligation. Investor expectations become a daily pressure. From that moment onwards, every decision on the international calendar, every decision on competition formats and every decision shaping the future of football is no longer driven by what best serves the game, but by what best serves shareholders.
This model has no place in world football. Football's future cannot be dictated by the expectations of those whose first duty is to maximise financial return. Nor can the interests of national associations, leagues, clubs, players and supporters become subordinate to investor returns. Football cannot mortgage its future for financial gain.
Europe's position is clear. We will never lend this model our legitimacy. No one has the moral authority to sell what they merely hold in trust for the next generation.

I'm up at 6.30am to write up an Andy Burnham interview the BBC did last week and have been teasing in segments, refusing to release under embargo. This it the first interview with a new PM. I don't object to it going to the BBC but treating it like some sort of celebrity exclusive feels a bit weird.

HP backs down in battle over Mike Lynch’s £500m estate - The Telegraph Does the Telegraph positively choose to have misleading headlines? HP has agreed with Court that Lynch family being happy with insolvency practitioner is acceptable.

Pretty funny to see the party responsible for the state of British prisons 2010-24 joining in though. Ok, Chris Philp, let’s pretend Broadmoor is like a holiday camp? Which is why you shut it down? Which is why you changed the law that allowed people to be sectioned there? No? Chris? Are you there?

I regret to inform you that we have reached the “Broadmoor is a holiday camp” stage of right-wing discourse.

William’s vicious new row with Harry over Diana: ‘Don’t disrespect our mother!’ - Heat Surely the Sussexes could have visited Diana’s grave without photographer in attendance? Privacy a one way street when PR opportunity available.

The nuclear deal announced between Saudi Arabia and US is alarming. So that bastion of liberal democracy gets uranium and freedom to enhance it to weapons grade. Has Israel expressed a view?
