One calculation that blew my mind: When I push a pedestrian beg button to cross an arterial road w/ 40 mph spd limit. Wait of 90 sec means a car 1 mile away gets to priority to clear the intersection before I am allowed to cross the road. I am standing roadside breathing particulates
They installed a full size traffic light on the new section of walk/bike path by the airport Drivers are much more likely to stop at a regular looking traffic light than a HAWK or RRFB But its timed so you have to wait 90 seconds in the hot sun while people sitting in air conditioning get priority

Some media reports and social media posts have incorrectly stated that SB 3484 – the state’s micromobility legislation – takes effect on July 1, 2026. The correct effective date included in the bill that is awaiting the governor’s signature is January 1, 2027. www.rideillinois.org/news/sb3484-...

Mexican ex-voto paintings, a form of folk art, offer gratitude to saints for divine intervention. While most are from an untrained hand, they can be quite touching. Note: The artist is not always the one the miracle happened to. See Alt-text for English translations. 🧵 🎨 Carlos Hurtado

We often push back against car drive-thrus in cities, but I had never considered the idea of a bike-thru until now. It’s a brilliant way to help small businesses populate dense urban areas while completely removing the heavy burden of car parking minimums.
