The chintzy-looking M64 clone console of the N64 by a company named ModRetro has been released, I think, I don't pay attention that closely to shit. But as the great @frankcifaldi.bsky.social posted before, it is our civic duty to push back against this company and shun ANYONE who doesn't.

Cover art of the classic First-Person Shooter Doom (1993); Needs absolutely no introduction. It's fuckin' DOOM.

Cover art for Mortal Kombat: Deception (2004) This spot could've probably gone to any of the 3D era MK games easily (if I had to pick another, the honor would most likely go to Shaolin Monks because that game is just an incredible beat-em-up top to bottom,) but Deception's atmosphere & single player content I think sets it above the rest. This series morphed me into that weirdo who plays fighting games for the story, and I think experiencing Deception's Konquest during my formative years was the #1 catalyst for that.

Cover art for Gex (1995) not too much to say about this one. I love platformers, Gex has stumbled into meme status a bit over the years I think because of how aggressively 90s the character & franchise as a whole are with all the goofy pop culture references and whatnot, but as someone who only played the trilogy last year with the rerelease on modern consoles, I couldn't help but fall in love with that energy, especially in the original. Classic, tough-as-nails but oh so satisfying to master 2D platforming action with a goofy lizard dude. Hell yeah, sign me up.

Cover art for Silent Hill (1999) stumbled across a copy in a stack of old discs we had lying around the apartment I lived in as a young teen, completely unaware of what it was and where it even came from so even before putting it into my PS2 I was mystified. It's honestly a toss-up for me which Silent Hill I prefer between 1 and 2 (they're the only ones besides Shattered Memories that I've seen credits on, call me a LARPer all you want for that) but I was always kinda disheartened by how overlooked the original is by comparison. Hopefully Bloober Team's remake can rectify that. I think they completely knocked it out of the park with the SH2 remake so I'm confident they can do it again with the one where it all began.
