Four incredible years in the Young Academy of Norway have come to an end. It's been truly inspiring to work alongside so many driven people willing to spend their free time fighting for research. Thank you for the journey and keep up the good work - you guys are awesome!

English is what we use to discuss research, but many researchers have a different mother tongue. The general public is also often not fluent in English. How do we bridge the gaps? Discussing these issues with other researchers from across the globe was a true joy! #LanguagesOfAcademia

🗣️🌍 From 2–4 September, our research group "Language" invited 24 academics from 18 countries to discuss the #LanguagesofAcademia. If we want research to be global and locally accessible, language choices must be treated as an integral part of academic practice.

Very proud of @noralied.bsky.social who is the very first master student graduating the lab, and @nadiave.bsky.social who did a fantastic job supervising her. People are what makes science great and these two prove that time and time again! 🙌🎉

Today @noralied.bsky.social became a Master of Science! 🥳🎓🔬 She has optimised immunohistochemistry protocols for detecting key proteins in our favourite worms. Big thanks to @helmlab.bsky.social and @gquattrocolo.bsky.social for examining the thesis!

🌟 #NorskFagspråk termportalen.w.uib.no/2026/02/02/n...

Ny termbase: Dyrefysiologi

Termgruppa i dyrefysiologi arbeider vidare inn i 2026, i første omgang med mål om å inkludere alle dei sansane dyr har. Deretter ventar fleire spennende tema innanfor fysiologien si verd.

Do you work on animal behaviour? Check out this pipeline created by the incredible @octoscience.bsky.social! It's simply amazing how quickly you can annotate videos, train a model, and use it to analyse novel videos. Especially if your animal of choice is squishy or uses camouflage 🪱🐛🦑🪼🐙

Do you love quantifying animal behavior as much as we do? We have just the tool for you! Presenting #OCTRON - a pipeline that helps you create rich annotation data and enables training of custom segmentation models. Have a look, particularly if you work with non-model / invertebrate organisms!

Still at SfN on the last day? During the morning session on the 19th, 8:00AM - 12:00PM, come check out our posters from the Moser, Zong, and Gonzalo Cogno groups in row QQ ('Grid cells and spatially modulated cells'). Ephys, imaging, remapping, development, sweeps and more! 🧠 Detailed thread below 👇

I just learned about Hamid Nedari Yeganeh, who makes amazing drawings using only mathematical equations. Now I can't begin to understand how he does this, but I wanted to share this one he made of a gossamer worm. So cool! 🤯

Now you can follow the ups and downs of our research on the brains behind bioluminescence! This is my passion project and by sharing what we do I hope we can make even more people passionate about weird worms and luring lights 🌟🐛

We're a lab dedicated to marine neuroscience, focusing on a little worm that glows to communicate. What does it say with its flashes of light? And what role does its nervous system play? Stay tuned to find out! 🌟🌊🧠

Christmas time, mistletoe and… light pollution? 💡 I’m not here to ruin your Christmas! But festive lights can really interfere with the darkest season of the year 🌌 Here are a few tips to lessen your impact on darkness all whilst unleashing your Christmas cheer! 🎄

A very large home with double garage, front door is between front window and the garage and a bay window. Warm Christmas lights hang under the eaves of the roof and guttering.
