Nada Number, reborn out of an ink-covered silhouette into a form that shows off its colorful nature. It kept the glove that lets it communicate because it still can't speak in this form, but visible spectrum of energy is new.

Your average trans person has dedicated themselves to more intense body modification than any anti-trans cis person obsessed with transhumanism has the guts to try.
Posting Bitkin site updates in-character as Patch feels very appropriate.
Small site update with some bug fixes! The scrolling thing should now be solved, so you don't have to worry about puzzle grids shifting around as you try to solve them. 05 also works better now (in a way that'll be obvious once you try it out).
I know a few people who might need this. Slightly silly idea but executed very well. contrail.shop/collections/...

Assorted Bitkin sketches, just because I'd been working on code so much I was starting to feel a little rusty. Ripley's design keeps changing, but he won't debut until a little into Act 2 anyway. I kinda like his more muscular build here.
You say that it’s shorter to type But memories are harder to wipe You’d claim night and day It’s just S-E-A But “SeaTac” still has all the hype
When techbros say "adapt or die" choose persistence instead. And I keep doing my humanly imperfect art. Out of passion, feelings and all those things AI can only emulate. ♥️
Every writer dismissing hacks for using AI is right that the work is the point more than results, but they're forgetting that most people don't like writing. Writers are weird. You think Terry Pratchett was a normal? He was a stone cold freak. The better argument is simply that AI can't Pratchett.
The flight is giving me an opportunity to see how the site performs on a phone, and — um, not well at all. Mobile Safari, at least, has a lot of problems rendering the pages. Something to fix before the actual release.
One lesson I’m taking from how Act 1 is going is that acts 2 and 3 will have a slightly different page size. Just a tiny bit smaller to make some layout things easier to manage. I don’t need to redo anything, and the change shouldn’t even be that noticeable when it happens.
Just pushed an update to bitkin.org from the airport (I'm glad I made the automation work) to make some instructions clearer. If you're stuck anywhere, please let me know! It's good feedback about what puzzles people find overly frustrating so I know what to fix.

I might be scarce for a couple days; I’m heading out to visit my family in LA and won’t be back until late Saturday night. They include some fellow Fool’s Errand fans from back in the day, so I’m eager to show Bitkin off to them, and it sounds like my niece is just as eager to see me again.
Morning repost. The Bitkin web site is open and playable, and if you like puzzles, go check it out!

I'm looking forward to what bizarre games come out of this dive into the collection of a curator of the jankiest things out there. This event was Garfield-themed last year and you wouldn't expect that to be as fascinating as it ended up being, so I know we're in for a treat here.
HEY GILDER! WHERE YOU AT? Working on all the stuff for AUUUUUGHust, our yearly celebration of janky games! We're CLEARING OUT MY WISHLIST this year! Spinning a wheel, buying the game, playing the game, attempting to beat the game until chat says "naaaah, move on" AUUUUUGHust: Wishlist Wipeout 8/1
Had some trouble sleeping, so I fixed that one bug preventing a puzzle from being solved. It's not an elegant solution, but I'm not sure it's the kind of problem that lends itself to one in the first place. Now I just need to draw some more art (after some rest) and I can call this open.
I'm glad I already set up the @bitkin.org BSky account, although there's not a whole lot there yet. It's where I'll be posting about official updates after the demo releases. Tomorrow might be a busy day…
I might be able to release the Bitkin demo tomorrow evening (Thursday the 30th). There are still bugs, of course, but nothing that should prevent people from solving it (once I fix the one puzzle that's persistently just not working). It's more than I thought, too; half of Act 1 instead of a third.
Demo is proceeding nicely, though I've run into a design issue that I need to spend more time thinking about how to solve. In the meantime, though, I'm putting together the Cast page, and I can even hide characters you won't have seen yet based on puzzle progress.
This scaling law (image taken from the linked paper) has been very useful for projects like Elseways where I need a way to benchmark how much different sizes of people eat. If you've got five times the mass as me, you'll eat about 3.34 servings of the same food I need 1 of.
Energy is the thing governing all life, and its use scales in remarkably predictable ways across all levels of life (humans as the main exception). Makes things easy for #worldbuilding; can guess a lot just knowing how big something is.🧪 Link: https://www.pnas.org/doi/full/10.1073/pnas.012579799
Colored sketch of Blit Bitkin in his current Elseways-era appearance. His body is artificial, grown in a lab to interface with the digital hardware he has in place of a brain, making him kind of a reverse cyborg. He wasn't a taur originally, but he asked for he upgrade and has taken well to it.
So, a few announcements! The workflow to push updates to the web site is now working. My goal is to have a demo — about a third of Act 1 — up by the end of the month. Eventually all of Act 1 will be there and available for free, and obviously I'll be making a lot more noise when that happens.
I've been doing more sketches but I'm unhappy how they're turning out. I think this is one of those plateaus — I need to spend time studying getting more expressive and motion-y to get what I really want here.
Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam or Alice In Chains. Maybe video game soundtracks are cheating, but this one was released as a physical 3-CD set, so I say it counts.
