ok no legitimately this might have to happen. what do you mean only one window can be active ever. why is it so hard to let programs exist in the background. why is trying to look this up sending me to MS WINDOWS TECH SUPPORT THREADS

a lot of talk about people getting more insane but nobody willing to link it to the day in middle school when we were led into a cave to glimpse our future self and decide whether or not we believed in determinism. sometimes I think I’m still back there. what “choice” did I make?

i'm very allergic to talking about our writing while it's in progress, but i'm also /really/ happy with this section. mechanics are going to take a hot minute to get coherent, still.

## Beliefs and customs Are there gods, in Alabaster? It's anyone's guess, but if they are, they're either silent like the dragons, or long since deserted. Or maybe they're the land itself, or maybe the gods are the castles of Epitaxy. What does it mean to be a god, to be revered? Are not the overlapping halls, the bulwark against chaos, the ashen and moon-pelted sea, the wells to bedrock; are these not gods as well? These are, of course, not all there are. every single nintendo direct is written like its advertising the first video game ever made. in this “game of strategy” you can choose to attack with swords [8 second clip of a guy attacking with a sword] or with spells [8 second clip of a guy attacking with a spell]

it's really interesting to me that this years-old idea seems to be ending up as tabletop. on one hand, yeah that's where we ended up anyway, but it does explain some why it never was working out when designing it as a video game...

i (and the friends i've talked so far to about playing songbirds) have always been super interested in Twilight for this setting, and even in early access this is /so/ juicy. the descriptions wreathed in spikes and thorns are incredible

Magnolia finds the Songbirds under the geas of Love's court, attending to each of the family's needs. Trimming the living garden, making the children laugh, and freeing uncle's ex lover from the Agony Parade. It's the first big expansion/adventure for Songbirds and it's in early access right now!

The fae that live here used to rule over Labyrinthia before it died. Their hungry spirits still pretend, spinning souls into rings and other pretty things. One of Ort’s many, many hands sleeps around your neck. Puppet him with concentration. He moves fast at any range, uses your stats, and returns to sleep when released. The ring around his sixth finger holds Ort’s dead world. Mark a stress to release his full power: large, 20hp, 10 in all stats, does whatever a giant hand could do. Returns to its dead world at 0hp, and returns when healed fully.

hopefully i can actually just leave things at that for now; i feel like if u keep letting myself iterate on these topics here i'll end up writing the essay twice over, so i should just add thoughts after it's done. but still! it bothers me. forever.

i feel a great need for that Occult Influence Device. really good video! very well narrated, very well edited, amazing fit. it's really neat to learn about this period of history my studies never got too much into, and just how much interplay esotericism and politics had at the time.

i do think that it's nice to finally see a lot of instances of "someone else has recorded trying to do this before" to build off of instead of being stuck in "figure it all out yourself" hell. that said, this is approaching the latter once again, at a rapid pace.
