A lovely idea. I voted for the iconic Chalk Hill Blue which came 16th. I was tempted by the Painted Lady. Talking of paint, congratulations to @rlewington2.bsky.social for his exquisite illustrations. We were both lucky enough to be taught by the late Ron Freeborn - one of the best teachers.

Lots of Orange-tips around. My favourite butterfly, so I thought I’d paint a male on Cuckoo Flower, with egg from a visiting female.

It's nearly 2 years ago that I saw @rlewington2.bsky.social mention this upcoming book on (ex-)X and ordered it. Finally arrived this afternoon and wow! The illustrations are, as ever exquisite. Don't think I thought beyond 'crickets' when I read "and allies" in the title - learnt something already!

Just received an advance hardback copy of ‘Dragonflies’ with masses of fantastic new photos, mostly by Steve Cham, and many new artworks. Also received, a reprint of ‘Bees’, both excellently printed in China.
