Final service at Taizé. Now the long drive back to Yorkshire.
The @leeds.anglican.org pilgrimage to Taizé is drawing to a close and we head back to the UK tomorrow. I haven’t posted much. There have been some truly profound moments and I have much to contemplate about my own journey.
It was wonderful to be invited to lunch and a conversation about how we include working class people and their calling to all levels of ministry in the Church of England. www.leeds.anglican.org/who-we-are/n...

Vicar of Mixenden and Illingworth Revd Robb Sutherland enjoyed a visit to Lambeth Palace last week for lunch with Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally.

When I spoke about working class vocations at synod I missed a trick. I could have talked about having canapés with Dean Deano.
I deaconed for +Smitha last night at Taizé. A pilgrim was shocked to discover I was a priest and robed as I had been wearing a Metallica T-shirt earlier. I have repented. And I will dig out the Ride the Lightning t-shirt from the bottom of my rucksack for tomorrow.
Bonkers that this was taken with a phone camera.
On a bus with my friend from London. She said “I hate buses. There isn’t one for eight minutes”. And this is why everyone complains about the country being London centric. I live in a town and have one bus an hour.

Very moving day as #GeneralSynod came to an end. Knowing the colleagues and friends I have worked closely with are not standing again, or are retiring. It had a very last day of school feel to it. This is how community is formed. Even temporarily.
The house of Bishops decided to become the headline. #GeneralSynod
Well done +Nick Chamberlain (Bishop of Grantham) for raising the point that the UK is becoming increasingly hostile to LGBTQ people and that we are backsliding badly. We need to move beyond polarisation, stop hiding behind process, and show compassion and solidarity. #GeneralSynod
Kairos Palestine debate continues #synod 'We want our sisters and brothers in Palestine to know that we love you… Jesus doesn’t just call us to be peace lovers - he calls us to be peace makers' #GeneralSynod
Today is the third day of General Synod, and a key focus has been a landmark new teaching document called Hope for All Creation. Follow us for the latest news, debates and highlights from Synod through to Tuesday 14 July. Watch Synod online at cofe.io/SynodLivestream.
General Synod. I’ve been very busy so haven’t posted on BlueSky in a while. I may talk about National unity later this afternoon. Depends on whether I can make what I want to say worth listening to.
Like, I suspect, most people, I’ve got mixed feelings about Synod next week, but I am looking forward to voting the Feast of Christ in Creation into the calendar. I do think it’s a good addition, and it’s also personally v cool to be part of it, adding something this significant doesn’t happen often
At least if England lose today it means we avoid an utter demolition by Mexico in the Azteca
I think this would be going much better for us if we were good at attacking or defending.
This is a great example of a politician sticking to an unpopular policy (ULEZ) which was the right thing to do and ended up saving lives.
This is remarkable.
For Fathers' Day, Keir Starmer posts a photo of his own father, who died in 2018, and a non-political message. The replies are a torrent of vitriol & cruelty, all with hundreds of Likes. We complain a lot about the quality of leadership, but there's a huge problem with the way we treat politicians
When you realise God doesn’t need you but he kinda wants you. That changes everything.
It’s nearly two months since i clicked one click switch to Brsk. They became @youfibre.bsky.social a few days before my contract started. They didn’t port over my number. Then customer service got it working. Two weeks ago it stopped working again. They’ve been trying to fix since Monday. No phone.
