An adopters perspective: Social workers and judges are between a rock and a hard place. Take a child too early, and it severs family relationship, too late and the harm caused is prolonged and much harder to mitigate through trauma-informed parenting. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Rise in babies in care proceedings raises fears of unnecessary adoptions, experts tell BBC

With better support, many babies may not have needed to go into care, File on 4 Investigates is told.

This would be a utterly insane change that both entirely misunderstands the issues we have with housebuilding and tne role of the EA/Natural England. Particularly given the huge additional responsibilities we've just given the latter. Hammer blow for nature and the enviroment for no good reason

The pitch here seems to be, ‘we’ll build the houses and infrastructure we failed to build during the 14 years we were in government, but we’ll do it in the most damaging and lowest quality way possible’. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

I know this isn't LinkedIn... but Pinwheel, the climate company I co-founded, has just placed 77th in Sifted's Europe 250 fastest growing start-ups and I'm delighted. I promise to keep this shit to a minimum going forward. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Seeing a few ex-pro footballers saying they feel sorry for City players. They chose to play for a nation state. They chose to go to City - with a salary that likely dwarfed other offers and didn't wonder how it was possible. This has been in the public domain for years. They turned a blind eye.

The RNLI rescued Luftwaffe pilots in WW2 because the organisation is there to 'save life at sea' - it's something to be immensely proud of. But as I've said many times before Farage and Co don't seem to have pride in Britain and its institutions beyond flags and crap Enoch Powell said 60 years ago.

This should be the moment people finally realise that Farage has turned them into fascists. If you’re choosing this dangerous inhumanity over the rescue work of the RNLI, you’ve lost your minds to racism and hatred.

The warnings about how awful Britain is for rich people would sound a little better not coming from a betting shop owner and Jim bloody Ratcliffe. Their argument has the least sympathetic spokespeople imaginable.

I'm quite enjoying the liberal, genteel nerds of Bluesky going full military invasion nut over the Piddington stunt. I fear recruitment offices are going to be inundated with skinny, anaemic signups with minus 8 eyesight.

On the CCC Heathrow advice. Firstly, it is good advice but narrowish lens of UK carbon budgets is key to understanding it. Also, the people behind it at the CCC are truly expert, and excellent. At the very least Government should implement the advice in full if it greenlights Heathrow expansion.
