The hands down best piece of media about Dolly is Jean Carlomusto’s 1991 short doc “L Is for the Way You Look,” in which a group of queer women discuss what it meant to (maybe) see Dolly in the audience of a show by Reno (the popular lesbian stand up) at PS122 vimeo.com/166066583

kusama is a difficult figure to place in performance history, but terribly important to it. like ono and kawara she introduced the ideas of the japanese avant-garde(s) to those of nyc; though not of gutai she at times shared that group's interest in doing painting and performance at once. (1/10)

I've been sitting with Cleansed for 2 weeks now, reflecting on the cracks it forged in me and how/if they can/should be filled or repaired. Thank you to Stella Green for articulating how theatre is a mass "prising ourselves loose from the sovereignty of our own viewpoint" & surrendering to faith.
'If we only reward art that tells us what it means, Cleansed will always be the first to be punished’ Today’s piece is a passionately argued essay by playwright Stella Green, about how Sarah Kane’s brutal play is more than just a sensationalist shocker

I've been doing this for 4 weeks now to get my reading-for-pleasure mojo revving again. I'm not saying it's easy (like using forgotten muscles) but it's working. I've finished my first non-fiction book in well over a year (Oreo by Fran Ross) and am slowly making my way through another. 📖💪🏼✴️

The truly iconic Louise Lasser has died. This is my favourite scene in any WA movie. She said it was entirely improvised. I love her restrained seemingly hesitant delivery, the way they play with rhythm & tone to create spaces within a spiralling structure for barely acknowledged doubled punchlines.
