It’s with a heavy heart I announce I’ll be closing down FIGE. Events in my personal life have limited my ability to run this project. Instead of trying to force it into a continued existence that no longer matches my original goals for the project I’ve decided I’d rather end it now on a high note.

JFC. Ron DeHaas, founder of the Christian antiporn app Covenant Eyes, has stepped down from NCOSE after his 38-year old son was charged with sexual abuse of a child. Covenant Eyes is the app used by House Speaker Mike Johnson and his son to monitor each other's internet behavior.

Buried in Michigan's antiporn bill is a provision to effectively outlaw "circumvention tools," such as VPNs. Mark my words: legislators will increasingly leverage porn panic to restrict or ban VPNs, and to limit internet privacy far beyond adult sites.

Since Denmark can attempt another vote in December, it is important to stay vigilant. Both Italy and Sweden remain undecided while France remains supportive despite Chat Control being in direct violation of its Résilience bill explicitly forbidding both forced backdoors and client-side scanning.

This is amazing news, good job everyone!! It also shows that these things are never one and done. Gotta be ready for when they bring it back because they will.

Denmark has tabled next week's vote on Chat Control. Yet, per Peter Hummelgaard: "The Danish Presidency will, however, continue to work with the member states to find a solution, and therefore negotiations on the technical details of the proposal continue. It is urgent to find common ground."

And this right here, as everyone with functioning brain power warned, is why online age verification DOES NOT work. There is no way to implement it without putting anyone who uses it at risk. Again: just amp up Parental Controls and start holding parents responsible for their kids' online access.
