One of the biggest lies about decriminalization is that it would remove penalties for trafficking. This is absolutely false. It's like arguing that if we remove criminal penalties for Marijuana possession it's somehow now magically legal to make someone transport drugs for you against their will.

Massachusetts residents: take 2 mins to tell the House Ways & Means Committee to protect sex workers this Pride! 🌈☂️ We’re asking them to pass 2 bills to create a commission to study decriminalizing sex work and to eliminate the crime of common night walking. bit.ly/sexworkpridema

Some good news: Bluesky support heard the feedback and is rolling back its recent update. Blanket bans of sexuality simply don't work. Shadowbanning a whole account due to one or more NSFW posts is ridiculous. (Remember to tag posts with adult content, and customize settings as preferred.)
It’s clear these changes missed the mark, so we’re rolling them back. We’ll be working on a solution that better balances the varying needs of all our users and will provide more information before we roll out additional changes.

Back when I was a full-time debunker, I would have meetings with Very Important People about how to defeat fake news. What tools would we use? Apps? Anti-disinfo schools?? Warning labels?? I would say "support antiracism and antimisogyny initiatives" and watch the light go out of their eyes
Back in October 2023, I tried making this very same point internally at a certain organization where I used to work… Suffice it to say, they weren’t having it 🤬
"Misogyny and anti-sex-worker hate have always been a major issue on the internet—but with the rise of the “manosphere,” the term used to describe streamers and podcast bros who often demean women, it’s arguably gotten much worse."
My latest story for @wired.com is about how streamers like Clavicular are making tons of money humiliating OnlyFans models — even though Clav is (allegedly) directly profiting off them by running an OF agency behind the scenes. www.wired.com/story/stream...
At a time when US AID is already devastated, Exodus Cry and NCOSE are demanding that additional foreign aid be contingent on criminalization of sex work. A new bill would add provisions to the TVPA that further conflate sex work with trafficking. www.einpresswire.com/article/9158...
Anti-porn, anti-sex worker, and anti-sex censorship directly corresponds to a tilt downward into a more ideologically conservative and oppressive society. Regardless of your personal comfort with nsfw content on the internet, it's absolutely critical to support it right now.
If you have nsfw set to "hide" I implore you to set it to "warn". You still won't see anything except for a blurred post Otherwise once they roll out account-wide adult content labeling a whole lot of people including me are going to disappear from your timelines, even our sfw text posts
So it looks like we might get a panel at the NOW (national organization for women) conference in June, specifically to talk about the Nordic model Keep your fingers crossed!
How many factory workers or waiters feel empowered? It is a silly thing to expect anyone to get from their work, in a capitalist society. Sex workers need decriminalization and de-stigmatization! Those would make real impacts on their lives!
You don't need to be empowered to deserve safe working conditions. You deserve to be safe when working, whether you feel empowered or not
Yeah, unfortunately, things like this are patently ridiculous right up until one of those fuckers weaponizes it in a way that never occurred to you.

Someone shared an article about bill HR 7661 with us and asked what we thought of it. The short answer? The story is not being covered properly. It's being seen as a joke, when in reality, it's a trojan horse meant to sneak in a lot of other things. www.thepinknews.com/2026/03/20/h...
“time and again, attacks on lawful adult platforms lead to more dangerous conditions. Sex workers are not served by policies that deny them agency, income and dignity. The fight against non-consensual content can only be won by recognizing the right of sex workers to engage in consensual labor.”
FSC condemns a recent UN press release calling for prosecution of adult platforms that host user-generated content. Adult platforms have led the tech sector in age and consent verification, while mainstream platforms remain the primary source of NCII and CSAM distribution online.
I'm not saying that there's a systematic campaign involving people with inside access to Meta's moderation teams to deplatform some of the most prominent, smartest accounts that advocate for free speech and sex worker rights. I'm sure there's a less nefarious explanation. Right?
In November I broke this story about Andrew Paul Johnson, a pardoned J6er who molested children and used the promise of reparations to bribe his victims silence.
Andrew Paul Johnson was arraigned in a Florida court in October on multiple charges, including molesting a child as young as 11 years old. Johnson dangled the prospect that one of the children could receive money bc...he was entitled to $10 million as part of reparations for his January 6 arrest.

I'm just curious, do people on here know that there are more than 2 ways to look at sex work? That we don't have to be victims OR "empowered"? That we can hate our jobs and still deserve decrim & labor rights? That we can be anti-work & anti-capitalist? That you can be a feminist & also support us?

being a "fan" or "appreciator" of sex workers means paying sex workers, tipping sex workers, and buying wishlist gifts for sex workers. camping out all day on our social media hoping for an unpaid back-and-forth is exploitative. this is a major cognitive dissonance some men on bluesky have.
"being in community" w/ sex workers would require u to take actual risks to stand by sw's publicly. part of my biggest problem with bluesky replyguy behavior is that most of you are engaging with sw-ers in secret, but publicly wouldn't stand with us or admit that you benefit from the work of sw's
This is why I engage with sex workers' content openly on main. They're amazing at their jobs, and you should know that I endorse them and their work. And I carry that through irl, where I stand by my connections and endorsements. Your activism will be sex work inclusive or it will be worthless. ❤️❤️

I was at that council meeting. The local news media came. Listened about Flock and then children thing on top of everything else for over an hour. Not a word about it in her story Now remember, this is the city council that got Flock to admit they send data overseas. They still rubberstamped it.
