As we close March, we close the book on a #heatwave without precedent, one meteorologists simply didn’t think was possible. As per @extremetemps research, in total 17 States set new all-time March maximum temperature records in the last 10 days… 1/

This is just absurd. Flagstaff AZ has gone 10 straight days with record highs above their previous all time MONTHLY MAXIMUM for March (73F). No stretch this warm has ever been recorded there even in April! You have to go to early May to get warmer values. Data back to 1893. An unprecedented event.

Crazy stats from Flagstaff AZ. Today will be their TENTH day in a row with a highs greater than their previous all time monthly March maximum of 73F. The week of Mar 18-24 averaged highs of 78F, more typical of mid June, and a full 10F greater than the next warmest week. Historic early heat wave.

Record hottest March day in Kansas.. 104F (40C) in Hugoton. Beats previous March record of 101F (38C) set 5 days ago. Also 104F (40C) at Ashland via KSU mesonet network if verified. Other notable hot spots: Medicine Lodge: 103F Liberal: 102F

As of today (Mar 22), Flagstaff AZ has recorded 5 straight days with max temps above its previous all time March monthly maximum (73F) NWS is forecasting another 6 straight days > 73F. Exceeding a monthly max for 11 straight days must be some sort of climate record. Off the chart stuff.

Never seen anything like this. 200+ monthly records set today alone! Every pink dot means a city set its new all-time highest March temperature! That’s around 570 new monthly records in the last 4 days. Some set multiple times. By far the most rogue #heatwave the US has experienced in memory.

96F (36C) in Lincoln NE as of 3 pm CDT March 21st. That's 40F above their average high of 56F/13C for this date. It exceeds their hottest March temp by 5F (old record was 91F) Earliest 95F by a month (prev earliest 95F was Apr 20) Insane early season heat in the US plains today

Bild

March madness! Forecast highs (F) across the US plains today (March 21) 90s into SD. 98F for NE and KS. Over 100F for OK/TX. This graphic would be a warm day for June. MARCH??? Absolutely insane.

The multiple 112° readings today are just 1° short of the national April record, which happened in Death Valley with 113° on April 24, 1946 and also on April 22, 2012. Note that those occurred in late April (h/t to weather historian Chris Burt).

So, yesterday the US set a new March temperature record of 110 degrees, beating the old record by two degrees. Today the US set a new March temperature record of 112 degrees, beating the new record by two degrees and the old one by four degrees.

This March heat wave over the SW US is mind boggling. Before this event, Flagstaff's all time March high was 73F. They have exceeded that mark the past 3 days, and are expected to exceed it for at least the next 7 days! Breaking your all time monthly record 10 days in a row?! I've never seen that.

Historic March heat wave baking the southwest US. Currently 107F in Thermal CA as of 1 pm local time. On pace to hit 111F this afternoon which would be the hottest March temperature ever recorded in the US. (current record is 108F)

A record high of 18.0C in Calgary AB today, beats previous record for Feb 5th of 17.4C in 1984. It’s the earliest in the year they’ve ever hit 18.0C or more (previous earliest date was Feb 12 1934) and ranks as Calgary’s 8th warmest February day on record (data since 1885)

Bild

A fine looking early February day in southern AB. Already 15C as of 10:40 am with beautiful blue skies, and a gusty southwest wind. Heading up to a record 20C this afternoon.

Canadian snowbirds don't have to head to Florida for warmth this winter.. head to southern Alberta instead! Temperatures expected to hit the 20C mark today in south AB while Florida struggles in the low to mid teens this aftn. A good example of the warm west/cold east pattern we've been having

Bild

Incredibly mild early February day in southern AB. Several sites hit the 20C mark, including Lethbridge with a record high of 20.6C, 2nd warmest Feb temp on record there (21.8C on Feb 27 1992) Hot spot was Hays at 21.3C. Calgary tied a daily record high for Feb 4th at 16.2C (tied with 1992)

All time hottest September temperature for Canada set today at Ashcroft BC with a sizzling 40.8C. Beats previous record of 40.0C set in Morden MB (Sep 1906), Lost River SK (Sep 1940) and Lytton BC (Sep 2025) (TWN graphic)

Bild

Even hotter than yesterday in Eastern Canada! All-time records were set at several stations, and the all-time PEI record was shattered with 38.1° at Maple Plains! 36.7° in Badger, NL tied August record for NL and all-time record for the island. 38.6° in Miramichi is 0.8° below NB all-time record. ♨️

Areas of heavier rainfall across Niagara over past 24 hours brought 25-50 mm over localized areas. Otherwise only 5-10 mm between heavier bands with less than 5 mm west of Grimsby.
