We launched 26 days ago — remember that? It still feels like it was barely yesterday 😘 Today we hit 100,000 monthly active users! ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND OF YOU. And we don't even have native apps yet. We love you! Thank you! This is just the beginning of something mu.

Pedro Pascal says: I should totally get a mu-let.

In “The Secret of Monkey Island” Grog is so corrosive it melts a metal mug. Watching a friend solve that puzzle in the 90s broke my brain. 30 years later I rebuilt the engine that ran it: in the browser, AI flipping bits, me steering. For fun. GrogVM plays it end to end. grogvm.dev

GrogVM

A from-scratch TypeScript reimplementation of the SCUMM v5 engine for The Secret of Monkey Island, running in the browser with no app backend and no emulator.

Unsurprisingly, the new @eurosky.social firehose is much faster for @sifa.id to connect to (compared to the standard bsky firehose) and on-par with the @microcosm.blue firehose (as all 3 are on 🇪🇺 Hetzner servers) Well done team, big wins for atproto independence and decentralization this week! 👏👏👏

Bar/table comparison of three AT Protocol Jetstream servers tested from a Hetzner Germany VPS. Eurosky (jetstream1.eurosky.network) and microcosm (jetstream2.fr.hose.cam) are both in Germany; Bluesky US (jetstream1.us-east.bsky.network) is in the US. Throughput is identical across all three at about 150 events per second. Real-time lag (how far behind live): Eurosky 2ms, microcosm 1ms, Bluesky US 47ms. WebSocket connect time: Eurosky 37ms, microcosm 25ms, Bluesky US 294ms. All three carry id.sifa records with matching counts. Takeaway: the two EU jetstreams are near-instant; the transatlantic US one is ~45ms laggier and ~10x slower to connect.

Make that 4/4 - how about a bonus release to end the week? Jetstream now available at jetstream1.eurosky.network What it is 👇

Fable 5 is definitely more autonomous than Opus 4.8 to deliver coherent work across longer session. It seems also less steerable though, so incorporating self-feedback mechanisms and doing a good planning work is more important than ever.

First prompt of the day: "The next move for an optimized gameplay is to head to Fettuccini brothers to get some money. They are in "the clearing" and since we just came out from the SCUMM bar we should head towards the cliff. Walk west until we reach room 38, then walk to the path until we room 85"

Countless time spent thinking about interesting side projects to work at, they were all solutions searching for a problem. Turns out you just have to look back at what you liked as a kid, and then happily jump into the deepest rabbit hole you could possibly find.
