I did get one other birthday gift for Shawna. Several months before her birthday, she called out that Zelda and her Age of Calamity Master Cycle would make an incredible Akira-style poster. I took notes and then quietly commissioned the incredible @lokyu.bsky.social to create it. It came out well!

An akira-style poster with the Princess Zelda walking towards the Master Cycle. Below the text reads “Zelda” with the katakana for the Zelda over it.

In keeping with the general themes of our marriage, yesterday Shawna and I celebrated our 20 year anniversary by walking about 14 miles of coastline. I feel so so so incredibly lucky to be married to such an incredible partner in adventure!

Shawna gazing out over a rocky coastline. An apple strudel, a mocha, and another apple strudel on a narrow table in front of a misty bay, with islands poking out of the fog.Michael and Shawna on the bow of an island-taxi in a bay, with islands behind them.Shawna on a bike on the beach, throwing her hands up in celebration. A sunset lights up the sky behind her.

Our cat Gabby jumped up on the couch, unexpectedly landed by glasses that shifted, and panicked. She leapt partially over my head and I nearly lost an eye. As it is I’ve got a cool face battle wound like a CRPG character that will hopefully heal up cleanly.

Today we wrapped our Pathfinder 2e Strength of Thousands campaign. The front part of the game was a big (tweaked) final fight, then I grabbed a giant glass of water and took them through the epilogue, and I was really happy with how it turned out. The campaign was almost 3 years, and it was great!

Pagliacci [watching footage of his own show]: This isn’t bad. Areas to improve, but overall, it works. Huh. It’s funny, I avoided this for so long. I was afraid of taking stock of myself. And I was so focused on the road ahead, I never stopped to consider how far I’d come. Thank you, doctor

Me, On a Pathfinder 2e video call: “I don’t know… I like Tron, but I’m not sure I want a New Tron Star” From the other room: “…what? …what!?!” Shawna, slamming open my office door: “MICHAEL WILLIAMS DID YOU JUST SAY WHAT I THOUGHT YOU SAID!?!!”
