"I don't know what it's like to be gay or to be trans, but I do know what it's like to be discriminated against. My job is to show up and be curious...[and] stand up when it's hard. And that's the thing I hope that folks will count on me for. " pridesource.com/article/abdu...

Care to my trans & gender diverse friends in the UK who are navigating the discriminatory code of practice that came into force today. The code is wrong, harmful, and part of a broader campaign to treat trans and gender diverse people as second-class citizens and push them out of public life.

Republican power grabs in Kansas and Missouri are going down in flames with 18-25% of votes reported so far. Missouri's Amendment 4 aimed to make citizen-initiated constitutional amendments practically impossible. Kansas' Amendment 1 was designed to flip the state Supreme Court to ban abortion

As St. Paul pushes forward with plans to clear encampments, I want to lift up the words of Rep. Finke. "Let us see our neighbors for who they are, see their needs as the same as our own and solve them hand in hand." We all deserve safe and healthy communities. Including our unhoused neighbors.

“This year Minnesota showed the nation what it means to protect our neighbors in their time of need. Let’s offer that same love and hospitality and care for our unhoused neighbors.”

Donald Trump wants to spend your taxpayer dollars separating families and building new ICE prisons. In 2016, I voted against reopening this prison in Appleton. In the Senate, I'm not going to send one more penny to this lawless, out-of-control agency. Let's rip ICE apart.

"This presents a problem for the right: If your winning issue is trans women in sports, and you're struggling to uncover trans women in any league that anybody has ever heard of, then how do you keep trans athletes at the top of people's minds? Answer: You invent them." defector.com/the-right-ha...

The Right Has Created Its Perfect Trans Athlete | Defector

A lot of people in and around the WNBA are talking about trans women. In the aftermath of Indiana Fever role player Sophie Cunningham’s negative comments about trans people playing sports in an ESPN p...

Today in @minnesotareformer.com: the story of Orbin Mauricio Henriquez Serrano, whose violent arrest by Border Patrol agents at a St. Paul Speedway went viral in the early weeks of Operation Metro Surge. You may have seen the video of him losing consciousness — and his breath seeming to stop.

Orbin Mauricio Henriquez Serrano survived a violent arrest in St. Paul. It still haunts him. • Minnesota Reformer

The morning of Jan. 11 began for Orbin Mauricio Henriquez Serrano with an ominous warning: The gas light on his Jeep Cherokee was glowing yellow on the dashboard. He didn’t want to go to work at the r...

The WNBA has never had a trans woman play in the league’s 30-year history and now the right and other anti-trans activists are hammering the league over something that has never been an issue, proving once again it isn’t about protection but exhibiting cruelty toward trans people.

There were 8 players spanning 5 decades and multiple levels of skill at our neighborhood basketball court this evening. One of them was trans. Nobody cared. We all had fun. This is how it should be.

I hope Minnesotans are ready for the level of anti-trans sports ads we’re going to be swimming in this fall. It wasn’t an accident that Riley Gaines flew in *here* to hang with Senate candidate Michelle Tafoya for the Lynx game. Let’s show up for inclusion on the court and at the ballot box.

Right now there are school board members across Minnesota that are choosing to use their platforms for political grandstanding - rather than supporting their students and districts. This was a bad, rushed, motion. Working with local community to respond. www.startribune.com/detroit-lake...

I have been weighing what more to say on the news continuing to unfold about St. Paul's mayor. There are layers here, but as a St. Paul resident, as someone who has worked with the Mayor, and as someone who has frequently experienced harassment; I hope the Mayor seriously considers stepping aside.

If you say you care about women's sports and the first thing on your lips is about trans women, you do not care about women's sports. You care about having a vehicle through which to concern troll and launder your transphobia. Full stop.

Last night I got hate on my after hours voicemail, tonight it was a heartfelt thank you from a community member. Sometimes the universe balances itself out in beautiful ways.
