Next month is the 58th anniversary of the DNC riots. We’re planning a special Chicago ‘68 game event with our friends at Marz brewing on August 28. Stay tuned!
This is what we've been up to!
Today we announce our next board game, "The Nights of King Ludd: The Luddite War on Industry 1811-?" A collaborative game of industrial sabotage ⚒️ 🔥 on Kickstarter September 2: www.kickstarter.com/projects/die... @joedewhurst.bsky.social @thedietzfoundation.bsky.social @ronengoldstein.bsky.social
Teach & Play of Chicago ‘68 with @catastrophegames.bsky.social and the good people of Riverwalk Games in Michigan. The loser was punished with a shot of Malört, Chicago’s tear gas in a bottle. #boardgames #malort
This morning @joedewhurst.bsky.social, @ronengoldstein.bsky.social, and I had the honor of accepting the Premio Comenio prize for historical games from the Board Game Research Meeting in Genoa. The award recognizes Chicago ‘68 as a game that “makes history accessible, engaging, and meaningful.”
In non-demonic board game news, I'm proud to announce that CHICAGO '68 is nominated for a Storia Ludica Premio Comenio award "an international recognition dedicated to games that explore historical themes through the language of play." Presented in Genoa at the Boardgame Research Meeting next month.
I love the sound of the radio fuzzing out as you leave the city
Play testing The Nights of King Ludd in golden hour is a vibe. This game saw a barroom republican establish a First Congress, a massive arrest and deportation of Luddites to Australia, and a daring assassination of a local manufacturer.
Shoutout to @joedewhurst.bsky.social @thedietzfoundation.bsky.social and @ronengoldstein.bsky.social for bringing this design "off the screen and documentaries into a board game form"
Awesome review of Chicago '68 by the @playersaidblog.bsky.social; "A stellar piece of design […] You're going to play this 10 times. None of those 10 games are going to look the same at all." www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Sib...

In-person play testing of “The Nights of King Ludd” marches on! At play were Lord Byron advocating for the Luddites in parliament; the assassin and “General Ludd’s right hand man”, George Mellor; and the teenage arsonists, Mary and Lydia Molyneux. ⚒️ #boardgames #gamedesign
check out the new board game my brother, @yoyoni.bsky.social and I are working on! "The Nights of King Ludd"
Slicing up a prototype of "The Nights of King Ludd" for unguided play testing this week (and humming this little song). #boardgame #design

I think the returning concept of prioritizing and loving physical media should extend to .mp3’s stored on your computer. 💿📼📀
134 years ago this cartoon was drawn, and in 134 years the problem has only gotten worse.
That feeling when you see that there’s a there there while also a here here.
Taught Chicago '68 last night to a new group. I think I witnessed at least two strategic maneuvers I've never seen before. Good stuff ✊ #boardgames

can't believe switzerland won the first gold medal for alpine skiing. this woudl be like if we had an olympics in america and took the gold in school shooting
Pointing out the bravery and decency of Alex Pretti is not about finding the perfect victim. It’s relevant because he was attacked and killed for being decent. People all over Minnesota are engaging in this kind of everyday, ordinary heroism and they know they are taking risks when they do so.
