If this helps: Mendoza endorsed MAGA former Chicago Police lieutenant John Garrido when he ran for judge as a Dem in 2020 after losing two non-partisan races and one as a Republican (he lost this one too.) He’s already endorsed her for mayor this cycle.

An announcement that Susana Mendoza endorsed John Garrido as a Dem in the county’s 10th subcircuit in 2020.

Just got to this immediately groan worth line, roughly 70% into the interview: Sasha: "How do you identify yourself politically? Do you consider yourself a moderate, a progressive, something else?" Susana Mendoza: "A Chicagoan."

As interesting as it is to see how the alders align themselves, if we learned anything from the last mayoral election it’s that voters don’t care who their alder endorses. Half the Black caucus endorsed Vallas and he didn’t win a single one of their wards. Nary a precinct, even.

“Among the sea of those wearing orange “LiUNA Local 1001 for Alexi” shirts were Alds. Felix Cardona Jr. (31st), Emma Mitts (37th), Timmy Knudsen (43rd), Michelle Harris (8th) and Brian Hopkins (2nd).” What an odd bunch of alders. Doesn’t bode well for MBJ.

It remains to be seen how salient this this fact will be, but there is an ironic humor I appreciate in Alexi picking “Demand Better” as his ‘27 campaign slogan when MBJ’s most well known rallying cry from ‘23 was “Brandon is Better”
