I feel like this Reform finance story got overlooked May 2024: Bassim Haidar opposes abolition of non-dom tax status April 2025: Haidar pledges £1m to Reform & publicly predicts/hopes Farage may create new non-dom regime June 2025: Reform launches the Britannia Card, a £250k flat-fee for non-doms

Mark, it's awful! It's only about five miles from where I live, and there has been a smoke haze as far as we are. I cannot bear the thought of injuries and people losing everything. Local rescue centres are asking for people to foster pets who now don't have a home, while owners get sorted

Last week I and my son put together evacuation bags. Just a bag to take if called to evacuate at short notice for whatever emergency. It's something everyone should be doing, unfortunately.

Indonesia's government has labeled LGBT+ people a "national threat," fueling violence, raids, and vigilante attacks. No one should be treated as an enemy simply for being who they are. Sign to demand that this dangerous decree be repealed. a.allout.org/s/WNE9l/

AI company Anthropic secretly bought millions of rare and out-of-print books to train its Claude AI model. They used a hydraulic-powered cutting machine to remove the pages for scanning before destruction.

I very much welcome today's first move to cut business rates for pubs, clubs and hospitality businesses - but that has to be the FIRST step, not the LAST step in whole sale reform. Business rates are one of the clearest examples of a tax system that has lost control of its purpose. 1/13

Horncatle Hub's car park solar. The Labour group has been calling for this for at least 13 years, so it's fab to finally see it happen. The Hub, incidentally, that is central to the new Rural Lincs unitary and can accommodate up to 100 councillors with a fire warden. #Lincolnshire

The superb sight of a row of solar panels under construction behind a fence on a bit of car park abutting onto a grassy area.

The £2 bus fare cap is great news. But it won't reach is potential in Lincolnshire until we can have buses running at working times, and on evenings and weekends. Buses that don't run until 10.30am on weekdays are of limited use.

Our report from last year looking into bus services in England highlighted a 5% increase in usage when fares were capped at £2. But price isn't the only issue - frequency and reliability are also deterring use. Read what we found here ⬇️ https://ow.ly/YhNp50ZrgJx

Local bus services in England - NAO report

Our report examines if the Department for Transport has delivered value for money from its support to local bus services outside of London.

I delisted my human-authored books from Draft2Digital today as a result of their slop fee. GenAI, making it harder for real writers whilst being built on stolen works!

Hose pipe bans seem a bit redundant when AI data centres are guzzling 11-19 million litres of water every day. In a Westminster Hall debate this week, I called for action to address the drought risk posed by their excessive water usage during periods of extreme heat.

There's a hosepipe ban in Anglian Water's area. Totally expected. Apparently you can't use a hosepipe to top up garden ponds - don't people know chlorinated tap water kills wildlife?
