I had a rough time with my trilogy: I debuted at the peak of the pandemic. A steep drop in sales for Book 2. Had a bone removed from my hand weeks before Wolfskin was published. But word of mouth is critical for authors. So if you're a fan of space opera like Mass Effect, please give it a chance.

Oh my God. I am embarking on my seventh train journey in less than a month and so far only ONE of those seven trips has run on time. Avanti West Coast is an absolute joke of a company.
"In a broken system, do you save yourself or fight for the people you love?" @artofelaineho.bsky.social 's dark political fantasy CRY, VOIDBRINGER is a searing examination of the cycles of imperialism and oppression, a raging battle cry to break the wheel and rise up. Buy geni.us/cryvoi
Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.
Nothing quite encompasses the rancid stench of English neoliberalism like having to sit on the floor because the 3-hour train journey you’ve paid over £200 for has been oversold, and the guard reminding those who have no seats that, despite first class being empty, you will be fined if you sit there
Like all great writers, it's a time to pay tribute to the words they left us with

It would be easy to call this the “new normal“ but that’s incorrect. In actual fact, “normal” is going to keep getting worse and worse and worse. Just how bad it will get depends entirely on how fast & far we go on real, legitimate (not performative) #ClimateAction. We know how. It’s about will.
Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.

The worst is when you don't understand it yourself, when you develop a chronic illness and suddenly things that seemed easy (keeping the house tidy, keeping yourself clean) are like a mountain in front of you. It's just so difficult to comprehend and adjust.
I don't think people quite understand chronic illness, what it's like to "wake up tired" but still have a million things to do. Deciding where to invest your energy as you're operating on 20% of what everyone else has. Even the most basic stuff like washing yourself or making a meal is draining.
I have this t-shirt! And I wore it to see Metallica! Where I was seated, I thank you!

Happy Friday everyone, as promised, here is my personal theory on this. I think Redwall takes place in our world, after an apocalyptic event of the nuclear variety caused rapid but varied growth of all animals, including humans, leading to our extinction and their mental development. Okay? 🧵

Had a wonderful time reading Home Sick by Rhiannon Grist a wonderful modern folk horror for the socially awkward of us with a dark side. Tense, emotional and wonderfully told it works even on a very warm day to chill this reader. Review to come
Home Sick, by @rhiannonagrist.bsky.social (pub by @solarisbooks.bsky.social) is a remarkable psychological horror novel, almost a character study that ends up being a superb story. Full thoughts: jamreads.com/reviews/home... 💙📚

Yeah, well, it doesn't help when all prices seem to be completely made up now, and it only feels like you are working and sleeping and nothing else is quite affordable.

General consensus from the reviews I've seen of the Hugo novellas is that there is one clear winner, most of the rest are a hot mess, and there are far, far stronger novellas that should have been on the list, which is a shame. Discoverability a problem?
I have had a headache for two days straight. This evening it is being joined by a sore throat. Man, am I not ready to face this coming week.
So exactly how many of 37 films and 19 series do I have to watch to be able to "get this"? Who are all these people?
