I had a rough time with my trilogy: I debuted at the peak of the pandemic. A steep drop in sales for Book 2. Had a bone removed from my hand weeks before Wolfskin was published. But word of mouth is critical for authors. So if you're a fan of space opera like Mass Effect, please give it a chance.

Oh my God. I am embarking on my seventh train journey in less than a month and so far only ONE of those seven trips has run on time. Avanti West Coast is an absolute joke of a company.

Brilliant letter from Stuart Thompson to Jeremy Clarkson about his comments that benefit claimants should write weekly thank you letters to tax payers detailing how they spend their benefits each week.

Nothing quite encompasses the rancid stench of English neoliberalism like having to sit on the floor because the 3-hour train journey you’ve paid over £200 for has been oversold, and the guard reminding those who have no seats that, despite first class being empty, you will be fined if you sit there

A stunner of a review for We Interrupt This Program by @randeedawn.com: "We Interrupt This Program is filled with magic, mystery, and most of all, a deep and abiding appreciation of what it means to create something for others." www.lightspeedmagazine.com/nonfiction/b...

It would be easy to call this the “new normal“ but that’s incorrect. In actual fact, “normal” is going to keep getting worse and worse and worse. Just how bad it will get depends entirely on how fast & far we go on real, legitimate (not performative) #ClimateAction. We know how. It’s about will.

Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.

Had a wonderful time reading Home Sick by Rhiannon Grist a wonderful modern folk horror for the socially awkward of us with a dark side. Tense, emotional and wonderfully told it works even on a very warm day to chill this reader. Review to come

General consensus from the reviews I've seen of the Hugo novellas is that there is one clear winner, most of the rest are a hot mess, and there are far, far stronger novellas that should have been on the list, which is a shame. Discoverability a problem?
