I'm so stuck. I read an article this last… week? Fortnight? About LLM coding agents and how they created so much context. It had lots of numbers about how a 50-token short question adds up all the files and inputs as tokens of input. Do you know where this is? It's not in ANY of my digital brain!

Been working on this little hobby project for several weekends. It's ready to show my friends. Most sky apps tell you what's up. Dark Hours tells you the truth: whether tonight is worth it, when, and which way to look. Free, no account, go nuts! darkhours.io #astronomy #stargazing

Dark Hours, what's actually visible in your sky tonight

Whether tonight is worth going out for, when to go, and which way to look. Real astronomy, live weather, and a light-pollution model that publishes its error bars.

"good psychology is _how_ good software work happens." 👀 Reading Cat Hicks's "The Psychology of Software Teams" (because I'm VERY interested in the people side of software development) It looked like quite a dense, academic book. But it's actually short, punchy, and very well written (so far!)

Today was one of those "Glad I know lots of weird stuff about computers that not a lot of people know" days. Enjoying doing deep work with the deep knowledge. 😃

When kids today complain about videogames I think back to the Turnin’ Turbo Dashboard I got in the 80s and how utterly magical it was. Then I yell at a cloud before turning to dust and bones. Anyway I’m 48 now and I’ve got another one.

Finally watched Ready Player One last night. I've not read the book. Was disappointed that it just seemed to be a blockbuster CGI fighty thing. Is the book a more interesting story?

First full day of school holidays. Took kids to the local high ropes place. Very fun. But I'm surprised this slack line fix got past health and safety! 😬

A slack line high up in trees, with a lot of gaffer tape wrapped around it

Never heard of Playtiles? It's a pocket-sized controller that sticks directly onto your smartphone screen and works with iOS & Android. No batteries. No Bluetooth. Just real physical buttons. Powered by PlaytilesOS with its library of features, and officially licensed indie games.

I do wish @calebporzio.bsky.social was properly on these socials. The journey of self-discovery he went on in his last two podcasts was epic. I like where he landed. He is not Ian. He works differently. He finds joy in different things. That is a good thing. Stop trying to be someone you are not!

The people asked (well, @the-lazyknight.bsky.social and @louisebrown@bsky.social did!), and the people have now received. After sharing a photo of my sourdough loaf this morning, I was encouraged to write up my process/recipe. So here is my almost-jargon-free, real-life sourdough guide!

A real-life, jargon-free sourdough bread process - Ross Wintle

Several people have asked about the sourdough process I've been using since 2018. So here is my real-life, jargon-free process: summary, details, glossary, pictures, video, FAQ, the lot!!

Rise up, Wordlers. This is no longer a fun daily puzzle. It's now us - the people - against them. Bring your pitchfork. We storm the NYT at dusk!!!
