Tuesday, I checked out the newly drained Reflecting Pool - with 0 vandalized gashes, just regular pool seams. Visited the hilarious new Trump art installation from The Secret Handshake. This one is called lran War Participation Trophy. It encourages the public to leave their own trophies for Trump!
A small but poignant protest against ICE today at the White House, in honor of Joan Sebastian Guerrero. The legally documented 26-year-old was killed by ICE in Maine. More vigils are planned for tonight in DC & a march is planned for Saturday.
Big crowd this morning for David Hearn, who got arraigned for felony destruction of Reflecting Pool property. He was released on his own recognizance. It's a bullshit case and the court knows it - if there's a trial, it won't be until February

It’s 96 degrees, we’re interrupted every 5 min by the sound of low-flying fighter jets, and the president has managed to ruin July 4th. Quietly muttering to myself: “just wait until IT happens. Everyone will be so happy when IT happens. It’ll be incredible…”
Lafayette Square at the White House has been closed since January for a $17.4 million renovation with a no-bid contract. In 2022, the Biden admin. had estimated $3.3 million for the renovation. Tues. they took down the tall fence & replaced it with a shorter one. Weds. the tall fence was back. .
I just walked around the National Mall area in DC and there sure are a lot of fences & military enforcement to “celebrate” 250 years of our “freedom”. Having the entire National Mall fenced off is a logistical nightmare for families trying to get to the museums in the heat, too.
Happy Pride Parade day in DC! A quote I heard today from a wise person: if the Trump fans “believe the things they say they do, they should be worried about going to hell for the way they treat trans people.”
Lots of Parks service people working on the still green Reflecting Pool today- using more of our tax dollars to clean up the sloppy work of the $14 million no-bid contract we paid for. Nat’l Guard & Police stood where the paint was peeling to arrest folks who tried to take paint chips.

Protested outside the UFC fight area, as fans arrived. 3 take aways: 1) Trump used millions of our tax dollars on security 2) UFC fans are different from MAGA. Many gave a thumbs up when they saw my sign about releasing the Epstein files 3) No mainstream U.S. media, but plenty of foreign media.

Checked out the #86theArch vigil yesterday, which is behind the Lincoln Memorial and going through Tuesday, May 26. I can’t make it out today but organizers will be protesting Trump this morning along his motorcade route when the draft dodger dares to show his face at Arlington National Cemetery.
Thank you for posting this. I’m worried that many people don’t realize how serious a blow the Supreme Court dealt to our democracy by gutting the Voting Rights Act this month.
