People in deep red states hate the GOP's initiatives
The AP hasn't called either contest yet, but Missouri's Amendment 4 is losing 82-18 statewide and failing in every county with 10% of votes reporting so far. Kansas' Amendment 1 is losing 71-29 and getting crushed in numerous Trump counties with 26% of votes in. These look over
In a bit of an upset, state Sen. Cindy Holscher has won the Democratic primary for #KSgov, per the AP. She defeats Ethan Corson, who was Laura Kelly's preferred successor. Holscher is more anti-establishment, anti-data center, and anti-public money for the Chiefs stadium.
Arguably the best news of the night. Voters in very red states are showing that they are in no mood for Republican nonsense right now.
Republican power grabs in Kansas and Missouri are going down in flames with 18-25% of votes reported so far. Missouri's Amendment 4 aimed to make citizen-initiated constitutional amendments practically impossible. Kansas' Amendment 1 was designed to flip the state Supreme Court to ban abortion
Also: the best polisci evidence we have says there is no vote penalty for progressives vs. mods. Hong & El-Sayed are favored to win in Nov, like any D. We won't have counterfactuals, but if close, win or lose, it'll reinforce the polisci finding. If they lose by a lot (they won't), another story...
You guys, nominating the person who earned the most votes is now an “ideological purity test.”

We over glorify “rural” and “farmers”. I got to hear Sarah speak when she ran for Ag Secretary. She knows whereof she speaks.
Most rural areas have a ruling class. And they want cheap unfree workers & to pass their fiefdoms on tax-free forever. It ain't rocket science. The fact that we're scared to talk about THAT, ime, is what's costing us a lot of rural voters!
Don’t call them ICE detention centers. Call them camps | John Washington

I’ve spent a decade reporting on immigration enforcement. The word ‘camp’ best captures the political function of these facilities

"At the end of the day, there is no scenario where Black women lose and everybody else wins. Either the economy serves us all or it ultimately serves no one." Thank you, @pressley.house.gov, for seeking equity for all. 🙏
On Black Women's Equal Pay Day, I partnered with @itsafronomics.blacksky.app to make plain that attacks against workers begin & end with Black women. Our op-ed explores the parallel crisis Black women are facing in low pay & high unemployment and what Congress & the Fed should do about it.
A quick update on the Cyclospora outbreak.
Memo to people who think expanding the Supreme Court would make it “too political”: THE COURT IS TOO POLITICAL NOW, and it’s badly misaligned with the values and views of the American people. Fight the fascists. Don‘t reward them for hijacking our government.
I just listened to a panel with David French and someone from the Brennan Center vociferously argue against expanding the Court. French said it would lead to “the dissolution of the republic.” About a third of the audience applauded. We need to get a policy culture that’s willing to do what it takes

No matter which conspiracy theories Trump peddles tonight, we know he's just trying to come up with an excuse for unprecedented election sabotage. Trump is desperate, and the GOP will do everything they can to cling to power. The way we stop them is by getting into election protection formation.
Don’t take the bait. Whether ICE planted drugs or there were drugs DOES NOT MATTER. It’s irrelevant to the murder. Feds want us to debate drugs in a story that’s about murder. Stay focused on the murder. It’s not about the victim’s virtue or lack thereof. It’s about ICE murdering people.
Did you know? Mike Johnson has NEVER faced an opponent? Not a primary, certainly not a general. Thank you @conrad4congress.bsky.social for stepping up!
I’m Conrad Cable, a first-generation farmer from Farmerville, and I’m running for Congress to take on Speaker Mike Johnson in 2026. This campaign isn’t fueled by corporate dollars — it’s powered by everyday people who are tired of being left behind. #Conrad4Congress
Crucial to name the racism driving this regime. Thank you @ossoff.bsky.social @ossoff.senate.gov
Ossoff: In my view, he's obsessed with Georgia because he can't get over the fact that it was black voters and black political power who were instrumental to his defeat in Georgia and in a number of crucial battleground states.

In America today, the wealthiest 1% is now worth more than the entire American middle class. That never happened before.
This is the frame elected Democrats (and pundits) need to accept. It’s not that hard people.👇
wrote about why ICE keeps killing people. it's because they're part of a pretty explicitly genocidal project. trump wants them to kill people, and so they do. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/ices-missi...

One thing is for sure in November: we are going to have an election. “Donald Trump does not have the authority to cancel elections,” @marcelias.bsky.social says. “That said, there are a lot of things he can do that will make it harder for people to vote.” Help us fight back: https://bit.ly/4qskS3m

so, the thing is, people are going to have to go to prison for all of this. not *just* because they deserve to, but because the cleanup for the next democratic party administration is going to be substantial and all-consuming, and they are going to need people to hang it on.
AOC: I said this a couple of weeks ago: I would not be surprised if, when ICE funding started up again, we would start to see more civilian deaths at the hands of ICE. And that’s exactly what has happened. We didn’t see things like this happening with the same degree when we froze ICE funding.
1/ Here's what we too rarely talk about when a man seeking high office is credibly accused of sexual misconduct. Platner, Swalwell, Kavanaugh, Thomas—these men almost always have the option to keep the allegations private. They almost never take it.
The cool thing is the Biden Admin already did this nationwide and then those assholes on the 8th Circuit overturned it once Trump was in office
