Dance Against DOGE 🕺💃

Connector of people & ideas, doer of action. Girl band in previous life. Too fabulous for fascism.

Puts on my *political strategist hat* as in I worked two decades on Democratic and progressive campaigns, and advise on a number of political campaigns and projects now The August 4 wins and losses in Michigan and Missouri were not as much about national issues or ideological divide. Walk w/me (1/

In a bit of an upset, state Sen. Cindy Holscher has won the Democratic primary for #KSgov, per the AP. She defeats Ethan Corson, who was Laura Kelly's preferred successor. Holscher is more anti-establishment, anti-data center, and anti-public money for the Chiefs stadium.

Also: the best polisci evidence we have says there is no vote penalty for progressives vs. mods. Hong & El-Sayed are favored to win in Nov, like any D. We won't have counterfactuals, but if close, win or lose, it'll reinforce the polisci finding. If they lose by a lot (they won't), another story...

You guys, nominating the person who earned the most votes is now an “ideological purity test.”

Opinion: If Democrats let a winnable House and Senate slip away over ideological purity, they'll only have their own primary voters to blame.

"At the end of the day, there is no scenario where Black women lose and everybody else wins. Either the economy serves us all or it ultimately serves no one." Thank you, @pressley.house.gov, for seeking equity for all. 🙏

On Black Women's Equal Pay Day, I partnered with @itsafronomics.blacksky.app to make plain that attacks against workers begin & end with Black women. Our op-ed explores the parallel crisis Black women are facing in low pay & high unemployment and what Congress & the Fed should do about it.

A Boston Globe op-ed written by Rep. Ayanna Pressley and Anna Gifty titled: The attack on workers begins and ends with Black women.

Memo to people who think expanding the Supreme Court would make it “too political”: THE COURT IS TOO POLITICAL NOW, and it’s badly misaligned with the values and views of the American people. Fight the fascists. Don‘t reward them for hijacking our government.

I just listened to a panel with David French and someone from the Brennan Center vociferously argue against expanding the Court. French said it would lead to “the dissolution of the republic.” About a third of the audience applauded. We need to get a policy culture that’s willing to do what it takes

No matter which conspiracy theories Trump peddles tonight, we know he's just trying to come up with an excuse for unprecedented election sabotage. Trump is desperate, and the GOP will do everything they can to cling to power. The way we stop them is by getting into election protection formation.

Don’t take the bait. Whether ICE planted drugs or there were drugs DOES NOT MATTER. It’s irrelevant to the murder. Feds want us to debate drugs in a story that’s about murder. Stay focused on the murder. It’s not about the victim’s virtue or lack thereof. It’s about ICE murdering people.

New w @pamherd.bsky.social: Mamdani just announced PIT Crew — an NYC tech unit that will build digital public products. Takeaway: Mamdani is reclaiming a vision of tech in govt for progressives, one not driven by consultants and which solves real problems. 🧵 donmoynihan.substack.com/p/mamdani-in...

so, the thing is, people are going to have to go to prison for all of this. not *just* because they deserve to, but because the cleanup for the next democratic party administration is going to be substantial and all-consuming, and they are going to need people to hang it on.

AOC: I said this a couple of weeks ago: I would not be surprised if, when ICE funding started up again, we would start to see more civilian deaths at the hands of ICE. And that’s exactly what has happened. We didn’t see things like this happening with the same degree when we froze ICE funding.

1/ Here's what we too rarely talk about when a man seeking high office is credibly accused of sexual misconduct. Platner, Swalwell, Kavanaugh, Thomas—these men almost always have the option to keep the allegations private. They almost never take it.
