Visited Kilcornan woods with @timoceallaigh.bsky.social in Claregalway to record bryophytes. Good finds were Lophocolea heterophylla, Drepanolojunea hamatifolia & Cephalozia curvifolia. Was also nice to see hazel trees & stonewalls covered in Neckera crispa.

Potentially Sphagnum divinum growing in a very nice and quaking bog in Coolvoy bog SAC, Donegal. Can't say I am certain as I find the field characteristics tricky but based on pore sizes in the branch leaves I would place my bet on S. divinum

Confirmed Sphagnum affine growing in a transition mire with Carex lasiocarpa and other Carex spp. in na Monga, Conamara a month ago. New species for me and looks like the second record for H16 Gailliamh thiar. Thanks for ID help @pilkyplant.bsky.social

Adelanthus lindenbergianus(new site) recorded with @timoceallaigh.bsky.social, Ciaran & Shane in Connemara. This very rare liverwort is a member of hepatic mat community which includes Bazzania tricrenata, B. pearsonii, Herbertus hutchinsiae(2). Thanks for confirming @nimbosaecology.bsky.social

Delighted to find Ophioglossum azoricum with @timoceallaigh.bsky.social at a site in Connemara. It was smaller in size with fewer sporangia on the fertile spike when compared to O. vulgatum & was in the right habitat: coastal grassland This will be the first tetrad record for this Red Listed fern.

I was thrilled to find a new population of Adelanthus lindenbergianus in the Mám Toirce, Conamara last week. It instantly stood out as being something exciting. Three separate patches found with the help of @timoceallaigh.bsky.social. Thanks to @nimbosaecology.bsky.social for confirming

Recorded Phaeoceros laevis with sporophytes on an earthbank in Co Kerry. Its always nice to find hornworts during surveys!

Tá mé ceapadh go ba sheo'd Polytrichastrum alpinum ar a mbealach suas go Corcóg sna Mám toirce. This seems likely to be P. alpinum judging by the round capsules and branching of this plant. Nice to finally find its capsules

Recorded a moss that looked like Bryum capillare at a blanket bog in Galway. But it didn't have have the excurrent nerve that B. capillare does. A similar species is Pohlia nutans which i don't come across often. Thanks for confirming @joannedenyer.bsky.social Found Schistochilopsis incisa too
