I was in N. Norfolk on Friday & early autumn produced the most exquisite day. Light was soft & colours glowed. Here was just some ordinary Pelia endiviifolia growing in a pond. A pond sited within heath, bordered by Molinia & yet with a chalky base. Just look at the jade beauty of this liverwort!

Interesting to find the moss Polytrichum strictum growing in good quantity on logs today, in open woodland in West Lothian, Scotland. An unusual habitat for this species, which is normally found on wet ground, especially in bogs.

Plagiochila spinulosa, Saccogyna viticulosa, Dicranum majus and Frullania tamarisci - all staples of Irish temperate rainforest. Hymenophyllum wilsonii also present which is a new Hectad record! I was told about some nice graphidion lichens here but I didn’t see them. Did find Sticta sp.

Potentially Sphagnum divinum growing in a very nice and quaking bog in Coolvoy bog SAC, Donegal. Can't say I am certain as I find the field characteristics tricky but based on pore sizes in the branch leaves I would place my bet on S. divinum
