On Jacob Geller

I'm aware of the rape allegations against Jacob Geller, as well as the fact that his name is on a court-ordered list of UNC students disciplined for sexual violence. I've hesitated on whether to post anything about it, because the victim hasn’t been identified and I don’t want to participate in a retraumatizing conversation against their wishes. At the same time, as someone who has collaborated with Jacob Geller, I do not want my silence to be taken as endorsement.

For my part, I did not know about this and I wish I had. What justice and repair look like in cases like these are for the victim to decide, and I do not know their wishes or what accountability processes, if any, took place. However, strictly on a personal level, I’m uncomfortable having collaborated with someone who has presented himself as a nonthreatening feminist without ever disclosing his history of sexual violence to me or any other colleagues I’ve spoken to. I have no intention of ever working with Geller again. Beyond that, the person this happened to ought to be the ultimate authority on what happens next, and how they wish to tell their story if at all.

Then beneath this there is a large block of text which reads:
The red corals of Mora-P have long since puzzled exobiologists
and anthropologists. They are, as far as we can tell, the only
species present across the entire planet. They are certainly not
natural, but nobody really knows who put them there or why.

Deep history of the local system provides some clues:
Geological surveys tell us that Mora-P was terraformed
between 110000 and 121000 CE (Luttrell et al., 149001), and
radioisotopes have been found dating back to around and a bit
beyond this time. People used to live here.

The red corals are full of cerebral tissue.
Why? What does an autotroph need such an expansive brain
for? In our survey we managed to analyse a section of coral
and map out its connectome. After further qualia modelling
(see technical appendix) we have arrived at a surprising
conclusion: The corals are in a constant state of bliss. The
whole planet is blanketed in sessile creatures experiencing
nothing but pure pleasure for thousands and thousands of
years. It's not the kind of pleasure you could get bored of
either, their brains are wired such that they are psychologically
incapable of experiencing negative emotions.

After further analysis of a segment of coral-brain, another far
more harrowing discovery was made: The corals are likely to
be a very, very heavily modified clade of humans.

In this text, I present the theory that the inhabitants of Mora-P
(tentatively called the "Coral-builder culture") are in fact still
alive and present in the forms of the sprawling coral lifeforms
blanketing the planet. This text covers geological data,
historical data mentioning inhabitants of Mora-P, and the
existential implications of their personhood and psychology.

2nd panel. The lift goes above the artificial clouds and we look down on the scenery below. We see the lights of the house and the blueberry fields beyond it. In the third panel we see Lynn, the white rabbit with the red patch on her eye, watching and smiling as Mira marvels at the sight.

Page 10. We see Mira's reaction to the view outside. She is shocked, without words, and then totally flustered.

3rd panel. "No way..!" she exclaims, rushing to the glass. We see her reflection rushing there to meet her. "I thought you couldn't see this from inside the dome! What the hell..!?"

4th panel onwards. We see Lynn's reaction, an unusually satisfied and emotive smile as she watches Mira closely. Mira notices and suddenly freezes up, catching herself just enough to downplay her excitement. "Yeah, it's pretty cool," she smirks.
