Makes sense considering many libraries are just using all the same methods and tools as booksellers, and often have to take advantage of what's popular to get folks in, which just adds more to the flattening because reader advisory tools tend to reinforce sameness?

If our system of justice can determine that shooting a one year-old is justified, then we do not have a system of justice, and our goal should be the eradication of the system we have and its replacement with something better.

As of Oct. 1, the Immigrant Worker Protection Act (IWPA) is now in effect in Washington State. This law requires employers to inform workers within five business days when federal agents have issued a notice to conduct an inspection of workers’ employment eligibility documents, known as I-9 forms.

in the long run it's hard to make out the difference between behavior caused by a lack of skill and behavior caused by lack of incentive, since ceteris paribus you'd expect either over time to produce the other. but these changes are recent enough that we can probably sort out which is the culprit
