Congrats to RWDSU Local 1102 members at Greenlight Bookstore and Yours Truly, Brooklyn stationery store, who unanimously ratified a new union contract last week! The contract includes significant wage increases, safe staffing provisions, and improvements to PTO benefits, among other improvements.

Studies published in Jan found that 81% of chicken plant workers & 46% of hog slaughter workers were at risk of developing debilitating extremity disorders that can be long-term & life-changing. Limiting speed quotas is the solution. Instead, the USDA has now done the opposite, undoing regulation.
