So, a few months ago I made a Bible trivia app called Bible Buff for the iPhone. That was fun. It was a creative project that works another side of my brain. You can find it on iOS App Store.

My sermon this Sunday includes me complaining about DocuSign, an illustration from Charlton Heston, input from John Calvin, and a pastoral encouragement to avoid self-condemnation. So, all in all, a pretty normal sermon for me.

I created an iPhone app! The app is called Bible Buff. It's just a fun Bible Trivia thing. For those of you who grew up on sword drills deep in the evangelical sub-culture this app is for you. So, it's free with a couple of fun paid add-ons so check it out. apps.apple.com/app/bible-bu...

Last night I watched the final episode of season 2 of The Pitt and finished reading Theo of Golden. Goodness, my soul was full. I can't recommend both of them enough!

College student told me I was spittin’ fire in today’s sermon. Maybe the best compliment I’ve ever I gotten. At least I think it was a compliment. I’m old.

"For insofar as the church is conformed to the world, and the two communities appear to the onlooker to be merely two versions of the same thing, the church is contradicting its true identity." John Stott, The Message of the Sermon on the Mount, 1978. Page 17

My pastoral encouragement this Advent/Christmas season: take some time and serve the hungry, bless the refuge who moved onto your block, or spend time with an outsider - someone hurting that drives you crazy, or maybe be kind to someone having a bad day behind the store checkout counter, 1/2

In 1972, 90% of all Americans claimed a Christian affiliation. In 2022, it was 64%. 73% of Americans were white Christians. Now, it's 47% 16% were non-white Christians. Now, it's 17%. All the drop in Christianity is a decline in white Christianity.

As a pastor I hate writing sermons on Saturdays. I'm just in a better place when it is wrapped by Friday. Thanksgiving falling on a Thursday always makes that a little hard, so I'm sitting here trying to write a sermon, but getting distracted by #Bluesky.
