2. Then the Post assigned 10 REPORTERS to track down more 9/11 families who want Mamdani banned. They are now up to 10 people. The last I’ve checked, that’s not “thousands.”

🇸🇩 RSF defections grow as Sudanese army advances in North Kordofan

A new group of RSF fighters surrendered to the Sudanese military with their equipment in Omdurman on Friday after traveling from Bara, North Kordofan, Sudan Tribune reported, citing state media.

The group arrived after the military captured Bara, Jabrat al-Sheikh and two other strategic areas, securing a roughly 400-kilometer trade corridor linking Omdurman with the North Kordofan capital, El-Obeid.

Former RSF commander Al-Nour “Gubba” Adam, who defected in April, was among those receiving the fighters. He said defections were continuing and urged remaining RSF members to lay down their arms.

The latest surrender follows the arrival of 280 former RSF fighters in Omdurman on July 22 with 30 fully equipped combat vehicles, as Mada Masr reported. That force had served under Gubba before his defection. Its commander, Hussein al-Dodo, apologized to the Sudanese people for abuses committed while serving with the RSF.

Other prominent defectors include field commander Ali “Savanna” Rizgallah and Fares al-Nour, a former adviser to RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo who handled sensitive political and negotiation files.Sudan Tribune

🟢 🇵🇸 “Not what our people aspire to”: Senior Hamas official defends weapons and withdrawal deal with Trump’s “Board of Peace” as the best achievable amid international abandonment and collusion

Senior Hamas official Basem Naim said the movement agreed to the disarmament roadmap “after a fierce negotiating battle” waged “with the blood and the bodies of our sons and our leaders.” He noted it was intended to ease the burden on Gaza’s suffering population and secure at least some “relief for our people.”

In a thread on X, Naim, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, acknowledged the deal “is certainly not what our people aspire to after their epic battle on the road to liberation,” but said negotiators worked within “the available space between preventing the return of war and preserving our strategic project.”

“The ball is now in the enemy’s court to fulfill its obligations,” he said, adding that mediators and guarantors must force Israel to comply and prevent it from “escaping the agreement, as it did in the first phase.”

He stressed that the deal bars any move to a new phase before the current first phase is completed, referring to Israel’s failure so far to allow adequate food, water, shelter, and materials for infrastructure repair and recovery into Gaza. It also requires Israel to withdraw to the original “Yellow Line,” after it gradually seized an additional 17% of Gaza during the ceasefire.

Addressing Palestinians who fear Hamas has conceded too much, Naim called their concerns “legitimate and reasonable,” but pointed to what he described as “the abandonment and the collusion” that left Gaza to endure three years alone. The task now, he said, is to build on Operation al-Aqsa Flood “to save Gaza and complete the project of liberation” by activating efforts in other arenas.

“To work, instead of trade blame,” he advised.Bild

🇮🇶 The U.S. has begun withdrawing its remaining forces and heavy equipment from the military compound near Erbil airport, including all Patriot air-defense batteries, as Washington approaches a Sept. 30 deadline for a full troop pullout from Iraq, Al-Monitor reports.

The withdrawal comes as Iran and allied militias continue attacking the Kurdistan Region. Sources said U.S. interceptors had stopped at least 95% of strikes targeting Erbil airport, leaving Kurdish officials concerned that the region is now more exposed. Remaining U.S. special forces may continue operating from smaller, low-profile locations in the country, an analyst said.

🎥🇵🇸 “We went to sleep under a ceasefire… thinking that the situation would get better.”

Footage from Drop Site contributor Abdel Qader Sabbah shows the aftermath of an Israeli strike on the main medical warehouse at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, which also shredded nearby tents sheltering displaced families.

“What did we do to deserve this?” Fatima Sharab said. Families believed conditions would improve, only to be awakened at 2 or 3 a.m. and ordered to flee.

The strike destroyed their tents, food, water, bedding, and the warehouse holding supplies for dialysis patients.

“What did we do wrong? What did we do to deserve this, us and the dialysis patients? Who among us is guilty?” Sharab said. “Today, we have no shelter.”

Umm Yahya Hassouna said her family of 12 fled barefoot and later spent more than five hours digging through the wreckage to recover food, clothes, or a mattress.

“Our fate? We don’t know. Destruction,” she said. “Our children are barefoot in the street… and we have nothing to feed our children.”

🚨🇵🇸 BREAKING: Palestinian sources say Israel will halt its Gaza assaults starting Sunday under the new Trump roadmap deal; Israel has not yet publicly confirmed the news.

Palestinian officials and factions said Saturday that Israel has agreed to stop its bombing, killings, and assassinations in Gaza beginning Sunday morning, as part of the roadmap deal Hamas and other factions approved this week. Israel has not publicly announced any such halt, and its strikes have continued since the deal was unveiled Thursday. At least 8 Palestinians were killed in nearly a dozen different attacks on the Strip on Saturday.

Mohammad Dahlan, the exiled former Fatah security chief in Gaza who is more based in the UAE and has emerged as an influential figure in post-war planning, said Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and lead Gaza mediator, had assured him he reached an agreement with Israel to cease the assaults starting Sunday morning. Dahlan said the deal’s success now hinges on Israel’s full commitment to halting the daily attacks.

Separately, a source from the Palestinian factions told the Quds News Network that Board of Peace envoy Nickolay Mladenov and the mediators had informed them Israel would halt military escalation and assassinations starting Sunday, adding that they awaited Israel’s own announcement.

Dahlan urged all factions to commit to the agreement and halt “armed displays” or anything that could give Israel a pretext to derail it.BildBild

Kiros: “The concern is valid, but the concern doesn’t justify allowing the status quo to continue, right? 🇵🇸 The Telegraph reports that exiled Palestinian politician Mohammed Dahlan & the UAE’s regional ambitions were among the forces that helped push the Gaza agreement over the line, as Egyptian pressure, Trump’s search for a diplomatic victory & looming Palestinian elections converged. 🔹 Dahlan, 64...

🔹 Dahlan, 64, served under and later fell out with both Yasser Arafat and Mahmoud Abbas. As Gaza security chief before Hamas’s 2007 takeover, he built close ties with the CIA and regional intelligence agencies. He acted as the key architect of a U.S.-backed, Fatah-led initiative to confront and overthrow Hamas in Gaza, a strategy that failed and triggered a civil war leading to a complete Hamas takeover.

🔹He now lives in Abu Dhabi, where he is a close adviser to UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed and a powerful figure and wealthy businessman.

🔹 A source “at the heart of the negotiations” reportedly told The Telegraph that Dahlan “did play a major role” in the final two days because he retains a base in Gaza and maintains relationships with Palestinian factions.

🔹 Dahlan’s intervention was reportedly driven by Palestinian legislative elections scheduled for Nov. 28, the first in more than 20 years. His breakaway Fatah faction, aligned with imprisoned leader Marwan Barghouti, opposes Abbas. One source said Dahlan pressured Hamas to make the final concessions in exchange for possible political support, signaling that it should disarm and “join the political fight.” Another source described his message to Hamas as “an offer of a political lifeline.”Bild

Following Hamas and other Palestinian factions' agreement to the fifteen-point roadmap, the success of the agreement now depends on Israel's full commitment to ending its daily attacks in Gaza.

Mr. Jared Kushner has informed us that he is working with the Israeli side to halt the attacks on Gaza. We continue our intensive contacts with the American side to ensure the faithful and complete implementation of the agreement.

We hope that the people of Gaza will witness the beginning of a new phase that restores hope and confidence in the future. We also call on all Palestinian factions to fully commit to the agreement, cease all armed manifestations and any actions that could provide Israel with a pretext to undermine it, and prepare for a phase that will be replete with challenges. We are confident in our people's ability to overcome them, rebuild Gaza, protect the West Bank, and continue the path toward freedom, independence, and the establishment of our independent Palestinian state.

Harold Meyerson flags that founding father Benjamin Franklin made a persuasive argument for the wealth tax, in a letter to Robert Morris, then the richest man in America and the financier of the revolution.

His basic argument: Public laws and society made you rich, so the public can decide what to do with the wealth we all collectively built. If you don't like that, he says, then leave society and go live with "the Savages." (Of course, the indigenous people of the time would not have allowed such greed in their societies, either.)

🇱🇧 How Will Hezbollah Respond to the New Lebanon-Israel Framework Agreement?

Hezbollah expert Amal Saad tells Drop Site the group is first waiting to see how Iran responds to what it views as a U.S. effort to undermine the Iran-U.S. MOU.

Domestically, she says Hezbollah has already made clear it will refuse to be drawn into civil strife, ruling out mass protests because they could inflame sectarian tensions and endanger the large number of displaced Shiites still living in vulnerable host communities across Lebanon.

Instead of resigning from the government, Saad argues Hezbollah will seek to fight the framework “from within the state,” rejecting efforts to portray it as an organization outside the Lebanese state.

🚨 At least 264 children, already cleared by the WHO and relevant Israeli and Palestinian bodies, have died while trapped in Gaza awaiting medical evacuation, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The ministry says Israeli restrictions preventing patients on the WHO and COGAT-approved list from leaving Gaza have led to the direct deaths of more than 1,570 people since Oct. 7, including 505 cancer patients, with another 6 to 10 patients dying each day as they wait.

Israel, with the United States’ backing, kept the Rafah crossing closed again on Wednesday, blocking all patients, travelers, and returnees from crossing despite the October 2025 ceasefire agreement, which explicitly provides for the resumption of medical evacuations and civilian travel through Rafah.

⚡️ NEW: The Hind Rajab Foundation and the Center for Constitutional Rights have called on New York Attorney General Letitia James to open a criminal investigation into Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir ahead of his visit to New York City on July 7-8, citing the Justice Department’s “consistent silence and inaction” on their requests to prosecute him federally.

The groups argue James has both the authority and the obligation to act because New York residents were harmed by Ben-Gvir’s conduct, giving reasonable grounds to believe he committed at least nine crimes under the New York Penal Code.

The letter cites:

🔸 Torture and abuse under Ben-Gvir’s authority against New York residents, including a Palestinian American subjected to starvation in Israeli prison and ten New Yorkers who joined the 2025 and 2026 Global Sumud Flotillas, tortured and abused, some directly by Ben-Gvir, after being seized in international waters

🔸 His distribution of gun permits and weapons to settlers in the occupied West Bank in furtherance of apartheid and violent dispossession

🔸 His direct incitement to genocide, which the groups say produced concrete genocidal acts in Israel’s prisons, Gaza, and the West Bank

“If the federal government is going to continue to deny justice for victims of Israeli atrocities, even when those victims are US nationals, then it is up to US states to provide their own avenues for accountability instead,” Jake Romm, HRF’s US representative said.BildBild
