For a game that’s all about “unaliving” thousands of soldiers in 10 minute bursts, Dynasty Warriors Origins is boring as hell. Gameplay is fab, but my god, these story segments… Po-faced people flapping their gums as they stand perfectly still in beige rooms does not make for an engaging story…

Because it's come up recently, a reminder that the Y2K bug wasn't overhyped. It was a huge problem and an huge number of people worked fast and hard and fixed it. Like the ozone hole. It's not a lesson in overhype. It's a lesson in humankind's ability to cooperatively solve problems.

Finally read Notes on an Execution, and this quote is still ringing in my skull: “This was getting to her: Men like him, who believed their very existences afforded them lawlessness. Men who had been handed the world, trashed it, and still demanded more.”

Barring FFVII REBIRTH (for obvious reasons), the DQ3 remake is hands down my favorite RPG of the year. I cannot wait for the 1 & 2 remake. I suppose I’ll have to tide myself over with another round of DQ11!

At 100 hours, that’s a wrap on Metaphor. I thoroughly enjoyed it, much more than any Persona or MegaTen (both of which I’ve either struggled to get through/given up on entirely), and while the story-telling felt kinda “huh?” to me, the ultimate message was so powerful and so resonant.

Really, really enjoying Metaphor, but—and I just have to get this off my chest—goddamn is this game ugly. Its style and art direction largely hide the yucky bits, but this would make a first-Gen PS3 game blush…

Dumb opinion, but Shadow of the Erdtree was too short. I just want more Elden Ring, like an insane amount of it. I want an endless supply. I want to explore, die, and triumph in FromSoft’s entropy until my brain leaks out my ears. I fucking love this game. Please don’t let it end.

It’s upon us—the release date! I worked on the English localization of FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH! Calling this a labor of love would be an understatement. We worked so hard on this for a very VERY long time, and I think it came together beautifully. The acting, the writing—all of it is top notch.

In a “having trouble enjoying video games” slump lately. So many things I want to play/continue playing, but I just can’t find the motivation. Anyone else experience this? Got tips or tricks to overcome it??

Pleased to report that I *love* Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, a game so good that after 45 hours I'm still not close to done because I'm compulsively doing every side activity. The acting, the writing, the MUSIC — this game nails everything it sets out to do www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...
