Over the course of my 20 year career, Every other nation with major ocean research programs has dramatically expanded their research fleets. The US has net lost 17 ships, mothballed 2 DSRVs plus the Sealinks, and critically underfunded NOAA.

Since my old static site generator finally slipped over the event horizon of bitrot, I started over with mkdocs-material. It's not really intended for running a research blog that make heavy use of Jupyter Notebooks, so I built a tool on to of it to make it easy. Introducing... mkprof. Blogs away!

I bought I car! It looks (and is) tiny, but thanks to clever design and an EV powertrain, it's very comfy even for my 6'3" (190cm) self. I'm still going to be commuting by train, bike and foot, but now I can go exploring on the weekends. Also... access to Costco unlocked!
