Everyone should be fighting for Universal Healthcare and disability rights. Health is fragile. You can become disabled or chronically ill in an instant. It’s not a moral failing. It can wipe out your savings and leave you destitute. Healthcare is a basic human right.
I might just be an idiot, but I find the whole dramatic climax and conclusion of Kung Fu Hustle genuinely moving. Like, the movie is definitely a bunch of goofy comedy adventure shit, but I sincerely believe it's also profound.
I am once again asking anyone who interviews Wes Anderson to please finally ask him about Showa Era Godzilla.

On the play that led to England's equalizer, the ball hit the FIFA sky cam before the goal.

There's a line from Charlie Chaplin to Jackie Chan that's really, really important not just to fight choreography, but slapstick comedy as a whole. Jackie Chan is probably the best physical comedian in modern film.
This is what I'm talking about when I bring up that genAI bots are making it impossible for an open web to actually exist. It becomes expensive, a pain, and domain providers like cloudflare are profiting off both the people making bots and the people who don't have the tech skills to fight them off

So I don't dislike musicals, but a lot of them don't really click for me. It took me awhile to realize that it was cause I grew up watching stuff with Vicente Fernandez or La Indía Maria and the like in Spanish: youtu.be/8LLB69s9fyA?...

also, I enjoy musicals for the same reasons I enjoy martial arts movies: to see choreographed storytelling through kung-fu (the real definition of kung-fu 功夫, "skill through effort") singing? dancing? FIGHTING? top-level performers can tell all kinds of stories with these tools

Drunken Master 2 is the absolute best, but my favorite will forever be Police Story:
Jazz.@jl3001.blacksky.app · 3y agoSomeone posted a cap from a Jackie Chan movie on here and now I'll be watching Police Story this weekend. The mall fight from the first is absolutely legendary, but I'm really partial to the parking lot fight. That jump kick and smash into the windshield at 0:36 is sublime.
Gumby makes me mad because I feel like no matter what I do I will never approach it's level of haunting unease.

Obviously I’m entirely made of Housing but a real good zoning reform we could make is re-legalizing corner stores on residential streets. Banned by the same 1957 code that banned ADUs, so maybe that’s next
Stan Oklobdzija@stano.bsky.social · 2d agoThis is why I'm so in favor of accessory commercial units. Just getting people in the US used to **walking** for a cup of coffee or a sandwich in the neighborhood may finally do something to rid Americans of our terminal car brain.

I'd like your help. I would love suggestions for any non-Western horror movies that are missing from my list. I just don't have enough awareness to be sure I'm not missing some gems.
